When CHE was first established, its main focus was to increase the number of Latino students entering medical School. While still pursuing that goal, CHE is now a statewide student organization dedicated to supporting its members in pursuing careers in the health field, while also promoting health education through outreach projects in the  Chicano/Latino community.

Our activities are diverse, including trips to conferences at  several medical schools, networking w/other orgs, mentorship programs, panel discussions by health professionals and students, and  more.

Hit up any of the board members for more information!

CHE MISSION STATEMENT:

CHE was originally founded in 1973 as a result of an increased awareness and desire by students, the community, and the AAMC (American Association of Medical Colleges) to increase the number of Chicano/Latino students interested in pursuing careers in the health field. CHE continues this tradition by encouraging underrepresented students to pursue a graduate level education while also giving back to underserved communities. As a member, you can expect the organization to educate you on issues of medicine, culture, social and political issues, application processes and ultimately inspire YOU to become a sensitive and productive healer who will make a great impact on society.

Come join your fellow CHEistas and with LMSA (Latino Medical Student Association) medical students. Come chat it up with your mentor while snacking on some yummies. If you don't have a mentor, COME!  It's a  great opportunity to mingle with the medical students and ask for advice on  that question that has been on your mind.
If your mentor for any reason is  unable to come, don't be sad! Try to arrange another time to meet with her/him and don't forget to fill out the online forms. E-mail our Secretary, Norma Villalon for a mentorship form. (mvillalon@ucdavis.edu). Hope to see you there!
