Ray Rhodes Named Defensive Coordinator
Mike Shanahan knows Ray Rhodes from his coaching days at San Francisco- Rhodes was the defensive coordinator of Shanahan's Super Bowl winning team in 1994. In the past few years Rhodes has been a head coach and defensive coordinator for teams including the Philadelphia Eagles, the Green Bay Packers and, most recently, the Washington Redskins.  Though he had another year left on his Washington contract, all the coaching problems they had this year ultimately led Rhodes to leave the organization. Rumors circulated that in order for the Redskins to let Rhodes go, the Broncos would have to give up a third round draft pick.  This was and is entirely untrue.
Rhodes is famous for being a stand-up guy and a tough coach but players have a lot of repect and enjoy playing for him.  This is great news for a Broncos' pass defense that finished dead last in the NFL.
Rhodes signed a contract for three years.
