What is the Upward Bound Program
and its mission?

The Upward Bound Program is a pre-college program created by the United States Congress to help first generation college students and/or low income high school students overcome educational, social, cultural and other barriers to higher education. The Program is funded by the United States Department of Education through a grant to the Northern Marianas College.

The Northern Marianas College Upward Bound Program strives to uphold its responsibilities to instill in participants skills and motivation necessary for success in post secondary education. It is the goal of the Program to assist potential first generation college students or low income individuals succeed in high school and continue on to postsecondary education.

"The mission of Northern Marianas College shall be to provide the best quality and meaningful post secondary and adult educational opportunities for the purpose of improving the quality of life for the individual and for the Commonwealth as a whole. The college shall be responsible for providing education in the areas of adult and continuing education, postsecondary and vocational education and professional development for the people of the Commonwealth."
