89' Cannons shutout Alpharetta Ambush 6-0

In the last game of its Fall season, the Under 15 Lady Cannons Blue shut out the Alpharetta Ambush 6-0 at Whitlock Fields last Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Cannons dominated the Ambush all over the field.  Megan McAlpin and Laura Barber each scored two goals with Caroline Cates and Caroline Carter also tallying to complete the scoring.  Aggressive mid-field play by Amanda Gunnells, Holly Clayton, Barber, Tabitha Nichols, Julie Stillwagon, Hope Counts, and McAlpin with backup from defenders Carter, Hillary Spradlin, Nella Jackson, and Michelle Wilson blunted the Ambush attack and allowed Ambush less than five shots on goal during the game.  The Lady Cannon mid-field and defense launched repeated attacks into the Ambush half that kept the Ambush players off balance and watching for opportunities to counterattack.  Cates, Carter, Kelly Camp, McAlpin and Spradlin made multiple runs through the Ambush defense to receive passes from their teammates.  The Lady Cannons used their passing game to great effect in wearing down the Ambush team. Stillwagon and Counts combined at goalie for the shut out.  Jackson, Spradlin and Carter were chosen as MVP's for the game.  The team is now 6-2 on the season and in second place in the league standings.  The team will spend the next couple of weeks preparing for tournament action.
89 Cannons shutout Tucker's Triumph Red 7-0

The 89 Cannons improved their record to 6-2 by shutting out, Tucker's Triumph Red 7-0. Scorers for the team were: Julie Stillwagon, Kelly Camp, Tabatha Nichols, Laura Barber, Hope Counts, and Megan Mcalpin with a pair. MVP's for the game were Caroline Carter, Michelle Wilson and Stillwagon. It was our second offensive game, playing a 3-5-2 setup.  This allowed us to dominate the midfield and attack more offensively. Defenders for the team: Michelle Wilson, Hilary Spradlin, Caroline Carter and Nella Jackson played a flawless defense and immediately moved the ball from defensive plays to offensive attacks.  Amanda Gunnels, Holly Clayton, Caroline Cates and Courtney Peek all contributed in the midfield and forward positions, setting up several opportunities to score.
