My Journey Continues
2-16-2004
I went and got my Psychiatric evaluation done today. Now the Psychatrists  will send his conclusions on to Dr Willis the Hep-C specialist.  Many Dr's treating hepatitis C, work with the folks in the mental health field, because of the psychiatric side efects of the medications.

03-11-2004
I recieved the paper work from the Psychiatric evaluation today I am going to fax it to the G.I. Dr so we can get things going. I would like to get a start date.
04-03-2004
I got a call from DR Willis the treating Dr for  Hepatitis-C. We had a heated conversation as he is very controlling. I did finaly get a start date . I will start Pegasys and Ribavirin on June-23-2004.

06-02-2004
I got a call from the nurse that runs the Treatment clinic. She set up all the pre treatment test and blood work, on June 23 I will go to the treatment office and get some information, also sign some release papers and also get my Pegasys and Ribovirin. I will then start treatment on June-25-2004

06-23-
04
I meet with the treatment nurse today. We will go over what to expect and blood test. I will also pick up my first months supply  Pegesys and Ribivirin.

06-26-04
I took my first dose of Ribiviron yesterday and gave myself a shot at 6:30 in the evening. By morning I was achy and had a headache I also felt spaced ou and foggy . Later in the day around 2:00 I got sicker then a dog. I had a severe migrain,  severe flu like symptoms and joint pains. This lasted till about noon the next day.

06-30-04
After making it throught the first 36 hours I have been feeling somewhat better just running a slight fever also joint pains and feel spaced out.

06-30-04
I go to get my first labs done today I will have a CBC also
My liver functions also I will get my Thyroid tested. Complete Blood count. I will post the result when I get them.
07-08-04
I got my load test back. My Red Blood cells are doing OK, My ALT has drop down to the normal range"Great",
but my WBC count is down to severly low, at this point we will watch and see where the go over the next few weeks.

07-29-04
I got the results of my first PCR and it show that the medication is working. When I started treatment I had a viral load of 7,000,000 Viral copies per IU/ML, this test showed that I only had 118 viral copies per IU/ML

08-10-04
I have been having an ongoing problem, WBC count is staying very very low. The treatment nurse said its low but staying in a holding pattern. My RBC count is doing OK, there is a slow decline, but it is not low enough to be concurned about. My mentall health, now thats a differant story. I like the saying that each shot has its own personallity.
Some people don't have a very hard time with treatment and other have to stop because they can't take the side effects.

10-12-04
I am doing about the same, my WBC is still very low and my RBC is still on a slow decline. I have had mouth sores for 3 months now, they are all over the inside  and some on the outside of the mouth. Thank-GOD They are finaly healing, it sure is nice to be able to eat without all the pain. Time is going very SLOWWWWWW.

10-28-04
The last 3 months have been very hard mentaly on me, it has been a daily struggle to for me  stay on; treament. About 3 weeks ago I started noticing a change, I was getting more energy I also had a better outlook, and I was sleeping better. I am asking for prayers, that the way I have been feeling continues or even improves.

11-17-04
I got my monthly blood tests back. Here are the results, RBC 3.74, Hemoglobin 12.3, Hematocrit 35.5, WBC 2.5, Nuetrophils 44.5%, Lymphocytes 39.0%. This is a big rise in my White Blood Cells and also an improvement in my red Blood Cells. My Platelets also increased from 65 to 87.
I am feeling not as good as before and I still don't know if I will be ending treatment on December 16th, or if the Dr is going to extened the treatment. I thought I was going to be doing treatment for a year, but found out several months ago that I was scheduled for 24 weeks. I am not happy with this Dr!  He is the only one that treats Hepatitis at kaizer's in my area.
I have seen him once almost a year ago. All other communications have come from the treatment nurse.
I hope every one has a great Thanksgiving.
11-31-04 Here is a link to a great website that has lots of information about hep-C      Janis Web Site
12-02-2004
Last night I did my final shot, thus completing the 24 week treatment plan. Yesterday my PCR-RNA test for the Virus came back undetectable.
There is a web site, with several people, that have helped more then they know! To them I would like to send lots of thanks.
If you have Hep-C or are thinking about treatment or are on treament, go to the
The Med-Help Forum. Thre are alot of good people there, that are very willing to help in anyway that the can.

06-16-2005  I got the results of my blood work today........I am Undetectable for the Hep-C Virus This means that my chances for being cured are about 98%......................
