teryl's beauty tips

Okay, this ones a little more scientific. But all us girls and the Free Women walking about in the hot sun of Tyros all day need something to protect our skin. This month it's anti-oxidents.

Basically, if you imagine all the layers of your skin, and all the tiny, tiny molecules floating about in it, you have the basics which make up your skin. However, when the sun hits your skin, it can penetrate the layers, and heat up the molecules. These then go whizzing around and crash into each other. They can then split. Now, when they split up, they can no longer function as well and they become dangerous to have in your skin, causing infections and *shudders* pimples! It also ages the skin far more radically than is really necessary.

So we need anti-oxidents to firstly protect our skin, and secondly to release free radicals into the skin to heal up the molecules, and do away with the poisonous ones! Now, the best thing to act as an anti-oxident is wheatgrass. Here are some recipees which are particularly relevant to teryls lil science lesson! *giggles*

Moisturiser.

A handful of wheatgrass
almond oil
beeswax
A handful of violet leaves
water

Using a pestle and mortar, crush the wheatgrass and violet leaves into a fine powder. Add a dash of water until the powder becomes a paste. You will need about two spoonfuls of beeswax, which should be melted in a pot over the ovens. Stir it until it forms a nice, sticky liquid! Add the wheatgrass paste and mix. Add water if the paste does not melt easliy into the beeswax.

Take off the boil, and let it cool for a little while. You will be left with a small amount of moisturising liquid. Now, it'll be a bit sticky with all the beeswax in, so add the almond oil to help it settle into a paste which can be easily applied to your face.

This will only make a little potful, but you only need a small drop on your finger to smooth around your face! The wheatgerm with an extremely high anti-oxidant content to help counter the aging effect which UV has on the skin and the skin softening violet leaf oil will be a swee treat for your features!

Foot Lotion

With all the walking which must be done around Tyros, it's very important for A/all to keep their feet as healthy as posible! And no one wants to see a girl with blisters on her feet. Therefore, rub this lotion into your aching feet at the end of the night, and by the morning they will be fresh as a daisy!

Cocoa Butter
Olive Oil
Ginger Oil
Clove Bud Oil
Cinnamon Leaf Oil
Lemon Oil

Heat up approx 2 tefs of cocoa butter in a pan over the ovens. Wait until it has become a lovely smooth liquid which dribbles easily off the spoon. This really is very simple. Add equal portions of the oils (this one recommends 2 spoonfuls of each) and stir until the liquid has become a rich dark brown transparent colour. Take it off the ovens, and allow to cool. The cocoa butter will solidify a little, making the mixture less of a liquid and more into a creamy, pink lotion (the pink is the warm spicy ginger oil!)

Rub this spicy lotion all over your feet (including between the toes) to soften the skin with olive oil and cocoa butter, to neutralise whiffs and stimulate the circulation skin with cinnamon, clove and ginger and to refresh them with lemon oil.

(mainly) lip balm

you will need

Cocoa Butter
Beeswax
1 tef wheatgrass
Olive Oil
Tangerine Oil
Apricot Kernel Oil
Heat up 2 tefs of cocoa butter in a pot until it becomes a nice runny liquid, and add half a tef of the beeswax. Let this melt for a while.

in the meantime, crush the wheatgrass again into a fine powder, but make it as fine as possible. Place this into a sheet of muslin. This will be useful later!

add a three spoonfuls of apricot kernel oil, two spoonfuls of olive oil, and half a cupful of tengerine oil to the wax and cocoa butter. Mix thoroughly.

Place the muslin with the wheatgrass in over the top of your jar, and slowly pour in the warm mixture of oils, beeswax and cocoa butter. The liquid will seep through the muslin, and take the goodness of the wheatgrass through into the jar.

Let it cool and carry the jar with you so you can keep your lips topped up with skin softening cocoa butter, olive oil and apricot kernel oil. They're going to be soft, kissable, and stretchy for the widest of happy smiles; this gives your lips a reasonable shine without stickiness and tangerine oil makes it attractively tasty for you and anyone else who wants to taste it. You can use it to soften skin on your elbows, heels, cuticles and anywhere else that needs attention!
