London is definitely a hot spot - for lifestyle and investment.  More and more citizens of the world are choosing London as a base and fortunately residential rentals are flattening and becoming affordable.  This means that some luxury real estate is becoming affordable.  Asking prices in Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and Camden are 10% lower than in September 2002.  Demand for homes below the 3% stamp duty threshold of £250,000 is especially strong for locals.

  • The Mirror newspaper described Madonna's home in Belgravia  as  17 metres high, seven metres wide with six bedrooms, a wood panelled library and a dining room topped by a stained-glass dome.  The paper said that there was an oval-shaping swimming pool in the basement,  a drawing room that opens on to a roof terrace and an annex with a fully-equipped gym.  And it's just around the corner from Knightsbridge, home to Harrods and other exclusive stores.
