A Bat-Villain in an Unexpected Place

Four days after the character's last appearance on the Batman TV show and two days before the last Batman episode, "Minerva, Mayhem And Millionaires," was broadcast on ABC, a Bat-Villain turned up on another series' next-to-last show on a different network!

On March 11, 1968, the Penguin had a cameo on NBC's The Monkees! The episode was entitled "Monkees Blow Their Minds." The villain of the piece utilized a formula similar to King Tut's Abu raubu simbu tu!

Burgess Meredith was uncredited and did not wear the Penguin's pointed nose. His hair was not colored black, his top hat was black, not purple, and his monacle had a string attached.

The umbrella, cigarette holder and trademark "quack," however,
make it clear this was supposed to be the Master of Foul Play himself,
The Penguin!
