Friendship

There is something on my heart tonight,
Whether true or not, I cannot tell.
I think of you most often now,
If in love I know not well.
In life only once such feeling came,
And love is truly could have been.
I am not sure what I feel now,
If love or just a friend.
What makes one love another I think,
Why the sudden change of heart.
For is it love not just better friendship,
Or is it more then just a lark.
I know not whether I love thee or so,
I am new to this feeling of pain and glee.
I know for now anyway,
I only want to be with thee.
When I see you I smile, and my heart leaps for joy,
When your not here, I am sad and blue.
So if love it is, then love you I do,
But if friend, then friend I will be to you.
Do not mistake, for it is not to offend,
I wish nothing of thee.
My feelings confused, and often mistaken,
I would do nothing of an offense be.
I mean you no harm, and I hope you remain,
For in my heart you will always be the same.
Whether friend or lover, enemy or foe,
These words I have said to you,
I felt you should know.
