  • LAMB SHOW RULES

    1. All 4-H and FFA market and feeder lambs must weighed-in and in pens
    between 7:30 and 9:30 am the day of the show.
    2. All other lambs must be in pens and entered by 9:30 am the day of the show.
    3. All animals must have the NATIONAL SCRAPIE sheep identification tag to be allowed to participate in the show
    4. Judging will begin at 10:00 am.
    5. Lambs in classes 1, 2, 11, and 21 (registered breeding classes) may be slick shorn, show shorn or unshorn.
    All other lambs may be slick shorn or unshorn.
    6.NO FITTING of lambs on show premises.
    7. 4-H and FFA club members will not be permitted to show in the open classes
    except for Champion, Pen of Five, Ram and Long Wool Classes.
    8. Entries for long wool classes must be sired by long wool rams.
    9. Ownership of lambs shall be designated at time of entry.
    Family flocks handled under the same management with mixed or joint ownership
    may be shown as one flock only. However, 4-H & FFA projects owned by members of
    the same family may be exhibited by the respective owner provided that the ownership
    of separate projects has been established at weigh-in.
    10. Sheep must be owned 30 days prior to show and must be free of contagious disease.
    11. Lambs shown in Market Lamb classes may also be shown as one of a Pair of Market Lambs.
    Lambs shown in the Market Lamb class may not be shown in Pens of Five.
    12. Feeder lambs must be unfinished lambs, 80 lbs or less, and may be either ewes or wethers.
    The final decision on whether a lamb is exhibited as a feeder lamb or market lamb will rest with Lamb Show Staff.
    13.Exhibitors must be enrolled in 4-H or FFA programs or exhibit in the open show.
    14. There shall be at least (4) four exhibitors in club and chapter flocks
    - classes 18 and 28. Each exhibitor shall show his/her own lamb.
    15. No lambs will be allowed to leave the pens until 3:30 pm, and must be loaded by 5:00 pm.
    16. A Pair of Market Lambs may be two market lambs, one market and one feeder, or two feeder lambs.
    Both lambs must be owned by the same exhibitor.
    18. All FFA members are required to wear official dress while exhibiting
    animal and during showmanship classes.
