What is the Tulsa Press Club Gridiron, and what's its excuse for lasting more than 60 years?

The Tulsa Press Club Gridiron is a Tulsa tradition since 1932.  The musical satirical show, which is written, produced and performed by members of the Press Club, lampoons the newsmakers and news events of the past 12 months.

Anyone who has seen a gridiron -- and that includes most governors, senators, congressmen, mayors, college presidents and civic and business leaders in the past 60 years -- knows the distinctive format:  humorous topical lyrics to familiar songs and a script written in rhymed couplets
