Let's Go
!!!!!!
So we made it back to the Big Apple about 3 weeks ago after having spent an incredible 3 1/2 years of our lives in Japan.  We're excited to be back in the U.S. - close to friends and family we've been apart from - but at the same time we left friends and family in Japan, so we will miss it very much - sabishii desu nee!  We had a 'sayonara' party in our apartment in Japan just before we left - here are the pictures if you click on 02-03 Sayonara Party at this page.
As expected, we have experienced 'reverse' culture shock after having been abroad for so long.  Japan really softens you up as people are not as loud and 'in your face' as they are here in NYC.  People in Japan tend to be more reserved and polite; life in Japan, despite the fact that Japan is always perceived as one of the most densely populated countries in the world , is  peaceful, comfortable, and laid back.  And as for customer service and cleanliness - I don't even have to tell you!
As you all know, Susan and I got engaged about 4 weeks ago up in the Japan Alps in Takanosu Onsen, Niigata at a beautiful 'ryokkan'.  Check out the pictures - click on 02-03 Takanosu Onsen at
this page.
Susan and I have found an apartment finally on the upper west side - at 69th and Riverside!  Further details to come!
