The Nation is Thailand's independent newspaper, and is known for its contacts with Burma's democracy movement.

Malaysiakini is an interesting web-based news source from Malaysia on UMNO, Anwar, PAS, and Dr.M.

Singapore-style state controlled media doesn't get any better than The Straits Times for news on the Lion City, Malaysia, and Southeast Asia.

Ha'aretz is a left-leaning newspaper from Israel. Look for reports by Amira Hass, an Israeli journalist who lives and works from the Occupied Territories.

For coverage of international events from a U.K. perspective, see The Independent home of Robert Fisk, a British war correspondent living in Beirut.

Egypt's famous Al-Ahram is a good source for perspectives on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and the Mideast generally. Don't expect anything too critical of the government however.
