Tucan Trio, formed in 1998 in Tel Aviv, Israel, joined together three
musicians who share a great curiosity, respect and love for Brazilian
music. We present innovative and original interpretations of
various compositions from the Brazilian repertoire, along with our own
compositions.
While cruising through an endless variety of styles and cultures,
we built from a wide repertoire a concert program covering miles and
years of Brazil's music, from the "Chorinho" of the early 20's
led by a generation of
composers and woodwind virtuosos such as Pixinguinha and
Altamiro Carrilho, through the African roots of the "Samba",
"Afoxe" and "Baiao",
to the well-known "Bossa Nova" led by Maestro Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Finally we included contemporary composers, such as Ulysses Rocha,
Marco Pereira, Hermeto Paschoal and Guinga, who combine all these styles
into a rich fusion of rhythms and sounds. Our original tunes and
arrangements, played by guitar, flute, latin percussion and authentic
Brazilian instruments, blend all the above with a jazz concept and a bit
of Mediterranean spice, to create a fascinating concert.
