Information Technology
As you can see we have a new Website. This has become necessary as the old website was hosted with the kind courtesy of Winston 9Y4WFA (silent key) on his personal web space. Although the site could have been revamped with the appropriate arrangements made, the structure did not lend itself very flexible for updating.

Also, TTARS as an organization deserves to have a professional web-presence and hence we  have acquired ttars.org. Arrangements are in train to delete all information from the old site except for a re-direct (both automatic and manual) to the new site.

All well and good that we have this new website, but vibrant websites are hungry beasts that need to be fed content. We therefore urge members to contribute articles, pictures (.jpg) so that we can keep things fresh.

There is also a Swap/Meet bulletin board for those who wish to obtain or part with HAM equipment. Lots will be happening as the site evolves with new links, news, pages, etc.

9Z4CO has  undertaken a drive to build a new comprehensive database of all local HAMS and their status. This will be a valuable tool to the Management Committee and will certainly afford us the opportunity to move the society quickly forward.

Camp Sangam...  A Success
The 1st St. Augustine Junior Guides Company held “Camp Samgam” at the University School compound from May 30, 2002 through  June 1, 2002.

9Z4CLB set up an Amateur Radio Station at the camp and Eric, 9Z4CP assisted in sensitizing these young minds (ages 8 to 11) to Amateur Radio Communication, International  Good Will and reinforced Amateur Radio as the only truly fail-safe means of  Radio Communications and its importance in Emergency and Disaster Relief Operations.

The station comprised: Kenwood TS-120S, Yaesu FC-707 Antenna Tuner, Dipole run up the school’s flagpole.
The station operated from 1600z to 1830z on May 31 (15meters). The Guides were allowed to QSO on the Afrikanner Net and worked Ron, KZ5RO and Bruce, K5HAA.

TTARS News understands that the Guides are  preparing two commemorative “9Z4CLB/Camp Sangam” QSL Certificates  to be sent to the two stations worked, as a show of their appreciation.
