TSU Women's Basketball Wins Consolation Game of Tournament

DENVER, CO -Guard LaTasha Thompson scored 17 points as Texas Southern (4-6) defeated East Tennessee State 65-63 in the consolation game of the Pioneer Classic on Saturday. Forward Menomanee Smith had 16 points and Rolanda Wilson chipped in 12 for the Lady Tigers. Kanesha Randle led TSU with five rebounds. Three players-Megan Jackson, Erin Thurman and Racquel Ellis-had nine points each for East Tennessee State. The Lady Tigers were down 37-33 at halftime, but managed to put together a 32-26 second half push for the victory. TSU shot 54 percent from the floor; East Tennessee could muster only 46 percent shooting. The Lady Tigers made 17 trips to the free-throw line, hitting eight shots; East Tennessee was 6-of-9 from the line. TSU returns to action, 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 19 against the University of Texas-San Antonio in the H&PE Arena.
