Texas Southern vs. Jackson State

It was the first victory for TSU over Jackson State since 1992. Jackson State had won 27 of the last 28 games in the series.

TSU Head Coach Bill Thomas felt his Tigers exorcised some demons in the victory. "We knew that if we played four quarters that we would be okay," Thomas said. "Before we've been giving games away to Jackson State. Tonight, we didn't do that."

It was a second straight 259-yard passing game for Lamb, who also rushed for 103 yards. Lamb's touchdown pass to Goldy Jackson with 10:19 left in the game gave the Tigers a 16-15 lead.

The defense had another dominant outing, paced by redshirt-freshman Santino Hall, who tied a TSU record with three interceptions in the victory. Lernard Mack and Lonnie Phillips both added 12 tackles. Jeremy Jones had 10 tackles and defensive lineman Tommy Balom and Robert Watson garnered two sacks.

TSU finished with 402 yards of total offense. Jackson State had only 231 total yards and committed six turnovers.

TSU will be back in action September 16, when they host the Lane College Dragons at 7 p.m. Delmar Stadium.
