TSU Baseball Sweeps Prairie View

Houston, Texas –Texas Southern continued its winning ways with a 11-1, 8-4 series sweep of Prairie View, Saturday, March 31 at McGregor Park-Neagle Field.

Jason Thornhill was the winning pitcher in the first game for TSU, (16-17, 14-4 SWAC) pitching five innings with four strikeouts.

The Tiger bats started early with seven runs in the first inning. TSU added four runs in the next four innings en route to the five-inning mercy rule win.

Stephen Cotton went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI’s. Amad Hill was 2-3 with a RBI and David Bell finished 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI’s. Jason Roy added a home run.

In game two, the Panthers jumped to an early 1-0 lead. However, TSU scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and five in the sixth inning to pull out the win.

Jason Roy and Gary Fruge added home runs. Roy finished with three RBI’s in the second game. Juan Deleon picked up the victory.

The two teams will play again, noon, Sunday, April 1 in a doubleheader.
