"A writer writes not because he is educated but because he is driven by the need to communicate. Behind the need to communicate is the need to share. Behind the need to share is the need to be understood. The writer wants to be understood much more than he wants to be respected or praised or even loved. And that perhaps, is what makes him different from others." -Leo Rostein

words from the heart, words from the soul
from the pen to the paper
words take their toll.
talking of love, discussing the grief
poems put down the
emotions we feel.

I think it is weird how I came to write poetry.... I don't know how other poets came to be poets, whether through a desire that came naturally or a need that had to be filled. One day when I was in the seventh or eighth grade I decided that I was just going to write. And I was going to keep writing no matter how awful my poems were, until I was good at it. I have gotten better and I'll save myself the embarassment of putting my early poems up, but here are some of the ones I've come to write.
