hi.

Wallpaper Rotator Temporarily Down, and Finally Moving to New Server
Novembre 25th, 2002
The server that the Wallpaper Rotator files are stored on is going to be down for upgrades tonight and possibly tomorrow. (Hopefully no longer than that.) So in the meantime, the downloads will not work. Once the other server is back up I plan on finally moving this website over to the senpai.net server, as I had planned to do months ago. (But I never finished moving everything over.)

I am sorry for any inconveniences this may cause. But in the long run, it should definately be worth it.

Wallpaper Rotator v2.9 Released
Octobre 11th, 2002
Now that senpai.net is running once again, the Wallpaper Rotator v2.9 has been released.

There are two versions: lite and full. Both versions are exactly the same except for one aspect: one comes with about 15 wallpapers, and the other one does not. Obviously, Lite is the one which does not come with the 15 wallpapers.

DOWNLOAD LITE (slightly less than 1MB)
http://www.senpai.net/~aslater/nje/download/nje_prod0006lite.exe

DOWNLOAD FULL (a little over 6MB)
http://www.senpai.net/~aslater/nje/download/nje_prod0006full.exe

The full version is available for download now.

The files are on the senpai.net server, which is where this website's new location is. However, the site at the new url has not yet been completely re-uploaded yet. When the new site is re-uploaded and the subdomain is re-created, I will update all of the links here to point to the new url, and will add the "We Have Moved" message to all of the pages. Hopefully this time the move will go a little more smoothly.

Wallpaper Rotator, and more problems with new URL
September 28th, 2002
URL Problems

Well, that problem in the pevious news article should have been solved a while ago, but there is a new problem with the new URL. Actually, several, but one of those is easilly fixable. First, the URL changed again. I'm not one who likes to change urls a lot, (which is why I have kept the Geocities-hosted site up, and is why I didn't change my url months ago,) but I think this url change is for the better, and should be the last for a very long time. The new website location is hosted on my friend's (and partner's) server, Serial Experiments Network, which was linked to via jamess13.cjb.net. However, we have long wanted our own domain name, and any url relating to "serial experiments" seemed to have already been taken. Furthermore, there were concerns of the name "Serial Experiments Network" being too similar to the anime series, "Serial Experiments Lain." Therefore, the whole network has gotten a name change -- Senpai.net. As you can guess, the site's domain name is now senpai.net. This meant I no longer had to use jamess13.cjb.net/nje and can now use a much nicer, and more permanent http://nje.senpai.net. I haven't updated any of the links here on the Geoities site yet, however. Like I said, something which can be easilly fixed.

However, just yesterday I noticed I could not connect to senpai.net at all. That isn't supposed to happen. At the time of my last checking (about a couple hours ago) I was finally able to connect, but the entire site is giving me 403 errors. That isn't supposed to happen either. To add to that, I have not seen the owner of the server online at all the past couple of days, so I have been unable to contat him regarding the problems. I have no idea when this problem will be fixed, but I will post another news article when the site is back up and running.

Wallpaper Rotator

In other news, last weekend I released a private beta (v2.9c) of the Wallpaper Rotator to those who have asked about it. I think beta testing should be near completion very soon, and I have already begun fixing the reported problems. I expect that any and all bugs in the program should be fixed in the final version. I will also type up some documentation and make the preferenes much more user friendly. I expect this might be done and ready by the end of next week. After that, I plan on working on another version of the wallpaper rotator (v3) which will require a complete re-write of the code. But until then, v2.9 will do what it needs to. Check back next week for v2.9 =]

Update, and Problem at New URL
September 4th, 2002
I JUST went to go add an update to this website (at its new location) when I noticed the new site is not showing up at all. (It is still there, you just cannot see it.) I do not know how long it has been like this, but I am already working to resolve the problem. Sorry about the problems.

Anyways.. the updates I had planned.

Serial Experiments Network will be changing its name soon because of similarities with the anime series, Serial Experiments Lain, and because practically all urls with "serialexperiments" and variations of it are already taken. The old abbreviations will still work with the new name. The new name is.. well, it's a suprise.

Stone of Reikai. I still have not had any time to work on it lately. I have been working on my gallery project. Progress on it has been very good, but I'm still having problems getting more images to add just as fast as I add them. ;P What is the gallery project, you may ask. This will be the first time I have mentioned the project here. However it is well-known on the Serial Experiments Forums. Basically, it is a HUGE gallery of wallpapers and other images which are mostly anime (but not limited to.) Currently I have 725 images uploaded, and MANY more waiting to be uploaded. The gallery will open as soon as I finish uploading images, and even then I'll be making changes and uploading new images which I downloaded since I last sorted and organized which images will be uploaded and which won't.

The wallpaper rotator.. so far I have gotten only ONE request for it. (In case you were wondering, yes, I did get the email. I still need to respond to that..) So, while I have decided I will make changes to the program so that in may be used on computers other than mine, it definately isn't going to be my highest priority (sorry to whoever requested the program.. but I've got a fair ammount of people requesting different images for the gallery and such..)

Another thing holding me back is school. At least this is my senior year.. but then after that will come college which will really take a bite out of my free time.. =O

There's more I was going to add to this update as well, but I forgot what that was..

New URL
August 8th, 2002
Well, I have decided to move the website to a new location, and have moved it. I will continue to leave NJE up and running at Geocities for a while yet so that any visitors will be able to adjust to the new url more easilly. Additional news after this will go into a new panel over on the left as hyperlinks on the Geocities site so that this "We Have Moved" article will be prominent there.

Also, there might be a few more changes coming to the site soon, such as an "extras" section and improved organizing of products on the products page.

After the course of a few months, the space used for the Geocities website will be used for something else. I'm not completely sure what yet, but there will definately be something there. =] The main page for the Geocities site will also be a kind of portal to NJE and the new site I'm going to have at Geocities, just in case there are still some old links out there in a few months. =]

Here is the new URL: http://jamess13.cjb.net/nje/

New Product, Site Updates
July 19th, 2002
I hope everybody has enjoyed their Canada Day / Independance Day / etc.

First of all, I have added a new product to the products page, Wallpaper Rotator. The program is currently labeled as "un-released" because it is a program I made for personal use. However, I will make appropriate changes to the program and will release it to the public if there is a demand for it.

Second, I have corrected a few of the links which were out-of date. But, because this is Geocities, I don't have a nice fancy script to make appropriate changes to all of the pages. Therefore, some of the pages may still be a little out-of date.

Lastly, I am debating on whether or not I should move this site to a different server. I would like to make some use of scripts to make content editing a little easier. Also, ever since Geocities dropped support for remote FTP access, file management has been a bit slower and diffiult. (That and my off-line copy of this site is beginning to be out-dated.)

However, I am not sure exactly how long this website will last anyway. Once the Serial Experiments Productions website is launched and Stone of Reikai released, there will no longer be much purpose for this site. Also, I really like the automatic page stats which Geocities provides. And to top it off, I even think I have a little bit of sentimental attachment to my Geoities account. o.O

Update
June 21st, 2002
Okay, so the site is still only in English. I never finished the translations. Maybe I'll get around to finishing them.. sometime..

Anyway, the main purpose of this news update is to inform you that I am still alive, and I am still planning on finishing SoR. Lately I've been busy taking care of personal affairs and studies. There won't be much to report for a while because I'll be completely re-writing the graphics engine for SoR. The old graphics engine wasn't very resource friendly, was slow, and huge. Plus, the old graphics engine was designed for a 320x200 screen resolution. I plan on moving into a 640x480 screen resolution. This also means a complete re-do of all of the menu screens and GUIs. I plan on preserving the same nature and feel of the old GUIs, but with more ease of use.

NJE Soon to be Trilingual.. and Web Rating
May 4th, 2002
Whoa, this is the first time I think I've added a news article only minutes after another. =P Anyway, I will begin translating the NJE website into other languages very soon. (Possibly later today.) When finished, the site will be available in three languages: English, Japanese, and Spanish. I will also translate all previous news articles into these languages. Usually I would expect the Japanese version to be completed first; however due to temporary contact with someboy who speaks Spanish, the Spanish translation may come before the Japanese translation.

Also, I will be adding content ratings to this site today. =]

Not much going on..
May 4th, 2002
Recall in the last update that I said I "might" release some info on Project Beta. Well, I didn't, because I felt it is still not the right time to release info about that. =] Also, there has been very little progress at all; not because I don't want to or anything, but rather I just have been busy with other things which are more important. (Most of these more important things are, sadly, things I do not want to do..) When things will start moving along again I do not know. =[

News Archives Opened
March 29th, 2002
As I promised on March 9th, there is now a News Archives section. The archives contains every news article (which I could find) since Neo-Jaguar started.

I might release some information regarding the "Project Beta" which is seen up above soon, so check back in a few weeks. ;]

This site contains little or mild offensive materials. Basically stuff only uptight parents would get upset over. =P

Reasons for Rating:
- Extremely mild violence to fantasy charecters and/or animals.
