This site is being created because of confusion regarding practices and regulations surrounding the use of LTL freight carriers, AKA common carriers. While it is being constructed, some content may be outdated or somewhat inaccurate. We have tried to make the terminology very simple and straight forward so that it will be of most use to all users.

It is the brainchild of a former representative for a LTL carrier, who constantly saw the need for a forum where shippers could get bottom line facts regarding how to most efficiently move their product, prevent claims and get the most reasonable rates. Frequently people are placed in charge of shipping whose only initiation was experience with small package shipping such as UPS or FedEx. Unfortunately they frequently become aware of issues only after a problem has arisen and are limited solely to damage control. LTL is another game entirely, with strict guidelines regulated in the NMFC by NMFTA. It is definitely a wise move to become as knowledgeable about shipping as possible because it is one of the few remaining businesses where the customer is not always right.

We will show you how to get started, answer the most common questions, offer tips & suggestions, list of terms, and a short list of well known carriers.

Please feel free to e-mail us at truckinghelp@yahoo.com if you have specialized questions or desire consulting.

We are currently located in Western Connecticut and not affiliated with any current transportation or logistics operations so our opinions are independent and objective.
