Donna Viau

My "career" in scouts started in 1993 when I became an Assistant Den Leader with Cub Pack 160 in Salem.  In 1994 I became a Den Leader (and Gwen Dunn became my assistant leader).  In 1997 I became a committee member of Troop 409.  I became the Committee Chair in January of 2002 when Dolores VanBlarcom stepped down.  Donna is also a merit badge councilor for Snow Sports, Sculpture, Personal Management, Family Life and Reading.

As a child Donna had a very unusual opportunity to attend school in Pereces Hungary.  She was only in the sixth grade, and had the chance to learn to speak Hungarian fluently, take second year Russian, advanced physics and learn many new cultural customs and skills.

Donna graduated high school from Weymouth, MA and tried her hand as a graphic designer.  She completed one year at Swain School of Design in New Bedford, MA.  Realizing that art is a hobby that she loves and would not like to be pressured to do it as work, made her change gears and head to Florida to a trade school for the travel industry.  This was Southeastern Academy in Kissimmee, FL from which she graduated with a 4.0 average (#1 in her class).  Donna has been working at MSM full time since March of 1998.  She started by working as an Administrative Assistant in Reading, and worked her way into accounting in January of 2000.  She is presently an Accounts Receivable Representative in the Wakefield office.

Donna’s favorite hobbies include Quilting, Clay Sculpting, Gardening, Costume Design, Mask Making, Reading, Skiing and Swimming.  Donna has traveled through Austria, Sweden, and Hungary, but she feels Austria was by far the most impressive part of the journey.

“After a year of battling cancer and realizing how precious life really is, I think I'd like to share this thought with everyone:  Live like there will never be a tomorrow.  Don't save the fancy clothes and the good china for a special occasion - just waking up is worth celebrating!”
