Internet
a worldwide collection of networks, gateways, servers, and computers using a
common set of telecommunications protocols to link them together.
Intranet
refers to a private network that uses Internet technologies usually owned by
the organization using it and regulated in use and content for distributing
pertinent information relating to the organzation on its industry to be used
internally. In this scenario, only those connected directly to the LAN are
able to access the pages on the server.
Browser
an application that allows users to view documents within a hypertext context.
Web browsers allow text and graphics to be viewed and formatted beside each
other. The Web supports transfer of files of many different data types, some
some data types supported by the Web include text, graphics, and multimedia.
When a Web browser encounters a data type that it cannot display, it can launch
external applications to display those files.
Authoring Tool
a program usually used for creating web pages. This ranges from the very basic
text editor such as MS Notepad to other advance tool such as MS Internet
Assistants, MS Frontpage 98, Allaire Homesite, Netobject Fusion, Macromedia
Dreamweaver, MS Visual Studio and Interdev, Borland's Intrabuilder.
