Because the Night
by Kat

Disclaimer: Not mine . . . although if Roxane ever lets me borrow her Munchie I wouldn't mind ;)
Rating: never good with these things 'R' I guess.
Summary: Hamilton and Jake meet each other at night.
Author's Note: I wrote this one while out at the park too. I guess this fanfic could be placed as a prolouge to "Silent Movie" I was listening to Patti Smith's song "Because the Night" (great song!!!) and thought it'd fit Hamilton and Jake, although I don't know of any guys our age who'd dedicate a Patti Smith song on the radio to his girlfriend. Rant: SOBBING I missed last night's Free Will episode!! So I don't know all the complete details about what happened this week other than email and convos SOBBING thank goodness for encores
Feedback: ApocaLYpTiC1984@yahoo.com - I NEED FEEDBACK!!! I LOVE FEEDBACK but please don't flame me if the fic sucks :(

"This next tune goes out to Jacqueline from your green eggs and Ham." A window opens as the strain of the first piano chords sing from the radio. The breeze against my skin sends shivers. Footsteps trail along the floorboards as you come closer.

"Take me now baby here as I am
pull me close, try and understand
desire is hunger is the fire I breath
love is a banquet on which we feed"

::Flashback::

Hamilton and Jake are playing "Perfect Dark" as Will watches how the pair interacts.

"How many times do I have to tell you! You press the 'A' button to shoot!" Hamilton pushes Jake's thumb to the 'A' button pressing it continually with his own thumb on top to emphasize the move. Jake feels her stomach react to Hamilton's touch. Will raises an amused eyebrow at this as he calmly sips from a glass of orange juice.

::End Flasback::

"They're playing the song I requested for you," he says to me.

"What's the name of the song?" I ask already knowing the name. I just wanted to hear him talk before we loose ourselves in desire again.

"Because the Night"

I stand in front of him. He stands in place beside my window. His hands wrap around my waist pulling me to his chest.

"Who sings this again?" My voice gets husky at how close his lips are to mine.

"Patti Smith," the name comes as our mouths touch.

"Come on now try and understand
the way I feel when I'm in your hands
take my hand come undercover
they can't hurt you now"

The feel of his tongue is a tease as it flicks back and forth against mine. His hands impatiently travel up my back to where the clasp of my bra lays. Snaps become loose. His fingers wander to the front as they cup a part of myself. My gasp disrupts the silence of the evening. His lips break from me briefly to say.

"Like that?"

My head nodds yes as he slips the bra straps from my arms.

Its hard to pinpoint when our bodies reached the bed. The night consisting of only this moment. Our clothes left on the floor like lonely cast offs.

"because the night belongs to lovers
because the night belongs to lust
because the night belongs to lovers
because the night belongs to us."

"Hamilton," my voice whimpers as he starts to slip inside me. His eyes wince in concern.

"Are you sure?"

I try to smile as my palm covers his cheek.

"Yes," the initial pain starting to fade as the nocturnal stars wear on.

"have I doubt when I'm alone
love is a ring, the telephone
love is an angel disguised as lust
here in our bed until the morning comes,"

"Hey," I say softly into the phone.

"How did you know it was me?"

"Women's intuition."

"Just be careful. Do you want to go somewhere different tonight?"

"Where would we go?"

"Let me be the one to pick the place this time."

"How will I dress? Are we going to a restaurant?"

"No we're not going out to a restaurant and dress comfortably."

"I hate you Hamilton."

"I know, I hate you." But his voice had no trace of hatred in it as the dial tone of the phone came on.

"Come on now try and understand
the way I feel under your command."

I'm still not tired of the way it feels when Hamilton holds my hand. I guess it's because we're not able to touch each other in public a lot.

I feel my heart stab with guilt at the thought of this.

"Are we almost there?"

"Yeah, just past where the trees end."

"I didn't know the lake was this big."

"Not a lot of people know about this place either."

"Take my hand as the sun descends
they can't touch you now"

"Have you noticed how sunsets are different from each other?"

Hamilton shakes his head no as his thumb draws fire circles on my hand.

"There was this one time when my mom took me and Consuela abroad. The play she was in was doing a tour around Asia. We were staying on one of those South Pacific islands and everyday I'd be at the beach behind the hotel watching the sunset. Consuela was still a baby so she'd be with the nanny. I'd wish for my mom watch a sunset with me, but she never came."

Hamilton looked at the sunset at its colors of tangerine and soft blood bleeding into each other to form hues I've never seen reproduced into pictures in quite the same way. Sunsets have to be seen firsthand.

"At least you have me to watch this with you."

"Thanks for bringing me here."

"No problem."

I laughed as he moved his eyebrows when he said that.

"What?" his eyebrows moved again.

"You're doing that thing with your eyebrows."

"What thing?" his tone of voice became annoyed which only made me laugh harder.

"When you smirk and it's like your eyebrows are smirking too. I know it sounds stupid, but you look soo SEXY!" I dragged out the last word.

He rolled his eyes at me and pinned me to the ground.

"If I'm so sexy why are you laughing at me?"

"Because you make me laugh, too."

"Oh I'll make you laugh," he threatened as his fingertips tickled me into giggles.

"Stop that!"

"Who's the sexiest man alive?"

"Brad Pitt!"

"Eww, he's married! Who's the one who makes your juices flow?"

"Hamilton!" I squeled. "You're gonna make me pee!"

"It's your pants. Come on who's da man!" He persisted continuing his assualt of tickes on me.

"You are! You are!" I let out.

He kissed the tip of my nose gently as he commanded.

"And don't you forget."

He sat up again as I settled back into his arms and let my head rest on his shoulder.

"I'm happy I have this sunset with you," I confessed.

"There'll be more sunsets."

"Promise?"

"As long as we're together."

We watched as the sun dipped underneath the horizon.

"With love we sleep
with doubt the vicious circle
turns and burns
without you I cannot live
forgive, the yearning burning"

"We can't continue hiding from everyone," Hamilton frowned as I settled beside him our bodies still naked under the sex scented blanket.

I felt the prior stab of guilt in my heart again.

"I know."

"Yeah, but we can't do anything about it!" Hamilton sat up. I watched the way the moon turned his back into a shadow.

"I can't hold your hand or touch you in any other way in public. I even have to watch the way I look at you."

All those thoughts and fears of us not lastting came to the surface. He was just saying the tip of things I would sometimes think about. Sometimes at night when I'd wake up and find him lying next to me. A lot of times during the day when I feel the desire to touch him and I can't.

"You're not the only one thinking like this Hamilton. There'd be times I'd think, 'Oh he's really not into you he's just lying. Yeah, the first girl he knows he can get he'll just dump you."

I snapped my fingers the same time he did.

"I didn't say anything about us breaking up!"

"I know, but this is getting tired hiding. I don't want to say the only way to break this off."

"I don't want you to leave. I can't imagine breaking up with you."

I put on a t-shirt. It was starting to get cold.

"I don't want you to be with someone you can't be with in the morning."

"I only want to be with you. We'll own the night."

"I believe it's time, too real to feel
so touch me now"

He kissed my anxieties away as our lips touched. We both knew this masquerade eventually would end, but we didn't want to put away the masks yet.

"if we believe in the night we trust
because the night belongs to lovers"

The next day rays of the sun rising awoke me from my sleep.

"Maybe we'll have some mornings too." Hamilton greeted his eyes sad at the prospect of us having to pretend we were just friends another day. I took his hand and traced the roadmap of his lifeline.

"We have each other as long as we're together," I repeated his words.

"And how long will that be?" his sky eyes serious.

"As long as love songs lasts so will we." I promised.

"You're amazingly corny in the morning," Hamilton smiled at me.

"Don't you just love it."

"I love morning kisses," he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively as he moved closer to me with his lips.

"Morning breath," I warned.

"Don't care," his lips on mine.

Jake's laughter broke the silence of the morning as she yelled the word, "eyebrows" at Hamilton. He joined in her laughter his head burried in the crook of her neck. Neither of them noticed Will across the lake as he watched them with his mouth hanging wide open in shock.
