Bodies sway as
drums beat a
tribal prophecy
the rhythm
breaking the shackles
that bind my mind
that keep me from
seeing freedom
The crack of the whip
is a harsh reality
the beating of backs
with the pounding of drums
Bodies sway as
the minister
sanctifies
rectifies
and testifies
to the drums
that beat on
summoning my soul
the beat transcends
the soul vibrations
and bodies sway
as still
