Pats play football, Colts play soccer..say NO! to new stadium!!

It's the damn playoffs and we play so bad that our punter has to resort to playing soccer and kick the ball into the end zone. I have been against the new stadium for a while and hope this game will keep one from being built. The city screwed up years ago when it built the RCA Dome. We should have developed an outside field. I honestly think our players just can't take any sort of bad weather.

Your obviously one of those people who think that Indianapolis has no business being an NFL city... Who knows, maybe the city isnt' an NFL caliber city and it's time for the team to move.

I don't see why we would build an outdoor stadium. Does anyone really believe that Indianapolis citizens will sit outside in the december weather when they hardly come out to the dome? And our team is built for the dome, not outdoors...as we saw today.

Not when it means stealing more of my money to pay for the team. If the owner is making $30 million and they said the Pats owner paid $300 million of his own money...then why can't Irsay just go to the bank and take out a loan? Hell, most of us here are stuck with 30 year mortgages. Can't Irsay live on $1 million a year and use the other $29 million to pay back the loan? Is that too much to ask for? I honestly believe that if we have a nice outdoor stadium, playing in good old Indiana weather, we can have a great team.

But hey, what do I care. I am looking at homes outside of Marion County just so I don't get stuck paying for more socialist programs (including a new Colts stadium).

The inference is there... Voting no to replacing the worst stadium in the NFL from a revenue perspective, a stadium that holds less than 60k people is implicitly saying that the Colts should move.

I'd love to see Irsay pony up out of his pocket, but after years of playing in one of the worst revenue generating stadiums the league has where does he get the money. If we're to believe what Mort reports on ESPN the reason Manning hasn't gotten his contract resolved is that Irsay doesn't have the cash flow for the signing bonus. So if you can't afford to pay a $20m signing bonus, where is this money going to come from to build a new stadium? And why build one out of your own pocket when there are other cities who would be willing to pony up to be an "NFL city"?

As much as I hate astro turf, I have to agree. I'm not going to pay $60 for a seat to watch a game in freezing weather, especially when I can watch it on TV at home with a beer in my hand.

Build a Ford Field / Reliant Stadium equivalent. Problem solved - best of both worlds.

Or that the owner should go to the bank like most hard working folks and take out a loan?

So in your mind, if someone is against the stealing of MORE tax payer money to help a _multi_-millionaire build a stadium they are anti-NFL team.

Do you have _anything_ negative to say about the building of a new stadium using tax payer money? Don't give me this "Irsay can't afford it." stuff. The man just spent $2.43 million on some scroll. Plus I am sure his home is worth at least a million. All I am saying is that when the team first got here, Indy should have said "We built you this stadium. If you think you will want another one, start saving." They have been here 20 years. They should have at least $100 million saved in the "New Stadium" savings account at the local bank.

fine, just don't do it with my tax money
the state is essentially bankrupt and faces a $1 bil shortfall in 04.
IPS schools are in terrible shape
the last thing we need is another stadium

Nothing wrong in taking that stance, just don't complain when they move.

It's call savings. They didn't do it...so it's time to leave.

It's call savings. Instead of spending millions on paper (the Holy scroll or whatever it is), the family should have been saving as much money for a new stadium from day one. They got a free ride 20 years ago and they just assume they should get the same today. A joke. A slap in the face to a bankrupt state and hard work folks. The owner lives like a king. We are to live like Serfs. Sickening if you ask me. They didn't save so now it's time to go. The Isray's could have easily lived in a $100K home, but instead they wanted flashy homes and cars. I can't believe some people still want hard work folks to fork over money. If I didn't save money for a rainy day and my mortgage wasn't paid...I wouldn't have a home. We gave them the RCA dome, that should be enough.

As far as other cities willing to pay, go ahead and leave. The only city I have heard being looked at is LA. A city in a state that uses it's VISA like it's going out of style. I just hope the good people that leave with the team survive the urban riots that start happening in 10-20 years. Calif. is doomed. If you want to go and live there and pray the LAPD can protect you, go ahead. Just watch some of the old Rodney King riots to get a view of the future when the welfare checks in that state start bouncing.

Our fans are babies? I didn't see an empty seat in New England. What about KC? Green Bay seems to do ok. Hoosiers complaining about the weather. No wonder our state is so fat and out of shape. I wouldn't pay $60 for any seat. Just a rip off from the get go.

Again, that perspective is fine, I can't argue with it. But I hope you won't be one to complain after the fact when Indianapolis no longer has a team. A couple of years after the Colts leave, the good people of Indianapolis will be like the good people of Houston wanting another team, but they'll never get another.
