The Party might be over...Pats fans...
Sat Jan-17-04 06:07 PM

Pats are a great TEAM
You have a great coach...
Brady is a great leader

But....

You're running up against one of the hottest offenses the NFL has seen in a long time...

With Manning "Hand delivering" the play call your "home field noise advantage" is non existent

And

The weather will be decent at 32 degrees with light snow...fun weather to play football..

The key may be the loss of Woody up the middle...Brady may finally see some pressure...

Colts 24- Pats 16

Wow, what a sophisticated group. My post was honest, fair and ultimately skewed to my viewpoint....That's an opinion ...If you deal with unlike opinions similar to this your whole life...I'm sure you will be climbing that ladder of success in baby steps at best.

To call someone a retard for disagreeing with your view tells me in two words (Dear retard) your background, IQ and level of sophistication.

That said, I do admire the level of passion you guys have for the Pats...they must be a fun team to root for...

But, as you grow, remember comments like that lose their steam and effectiveness because ignorance never wins....

That's an opinion, it's not a slam on someone's character or mental capacities...Grow up.

What is your opion based on? Show me some statistics or something that whould lead you to believe a team that is undeafeated at home in 9 games, given up an average of 9 points per game at home and shut out three teams is going to lose. They have also won 13 games in a row and already beat the Colts in their building.

A Great defence will beat a great offence 9 times out of 10. It has been proven again and again.

In response to Post #0 in this thread:

Miles, 2 of your points you bring up are utter nonsense, and a 3rd is a slight maybe. Your only valid point of the 4 is that the Colts are hot on offense. Woody's absence may hurt the Pats, but Hochstein held up pretty well against the Titans. How the weather will help your dome team over the Pats is baffling. Finally, Manning's "Hand delivering" signals has already blown up in their faces once this year on Willie McG's game ending tackle, and in 2001 Bryan Cox deciphered the signals to the point where the Pats knew what was coming every play. I'll bet they get a read on at least some of the hand signals in this game.

The fatal flaw
Sat Jan-17-04 06:49 PM

In response to Post #0 in this thread:

You think a team who gets it done on one side of the ball will beat the team who gets it done on both sides. Its a point of view that has been proven wrong time and time again.

BTW, the Patriots are teh second hottest team in NFL history coming into this game. Don't you think that offsets the Colts hot offense?

maybe...

but I doubt it.

Brady is as quick if not quicker than Manning.

Woody's absence will be handled accordingly, if he indeed is absent.

The focus will by all means be on the lack of time Peyton has.

Defense is something Indy hasn't seen or heard of since they almost lost to the Texans a few weeks back.

Wake up call coming.

If you read my post I believe I acknowledged what a great team, coach, QB the PATRIOTS have.....

I just think the breaks, Woody's injury, Manning being hot and the odds of running 15 straight wins may have caught up with the Pats.....

Believe me, I wish my team was, anywhere close to being the TEAM that the Pats are with the great Coach that Belichick is.

In response to Post #3 in this thread:

"the odds of running 15 straight wins may have caught up with the Pats....."

Well, this exposes your lack of understanding of odds. Its not like the Pats have to win 15 in a row to get to the Super Bowl. No sir, they only have to win once, because the prior 14 are already in the bank.

A legitimate penny flips heads 14 times in a row, what do you think are the odds of it fliiping heads a 15th time? Still 50-50. You're a dunce if you answer anything else.

However, the Patriots are not a coin. The odds of taking a penny and proceeding to flip 15 heads in a row is extremely low. The point being is that there's a reason the Pats have won 14 in a row. Yes, a little bit of luck once or twice, but they were good enough to be in that position to begin with, then good enough to capitalize on it. The fact that they have won 14 in a row makes it MORE likely they will win a 15th.

In response to Post #17 in this thread:

godef,

You say a penny is represented as legitimate and is flipped 14 times and comes up heads 14 times. You then say that only a dunce would say that the chances are anything but 50-50 of another heads.

OK, I'm the dunce. There is plenty of reason for me to believe that the coin is NOT legitimate, and is much MORE than likely 50% to come up heads again.

Misunderstanding the odds...
Sun Jan-18-04 12:17 AM

In response to Post #3 in this thread:
Edited on Sun Jan-18-04 12:20 AM by patsox23

Once again, a jack-ass regurgitates nonsense being spewed by the talking heads on ESPN. The odds of the Patriots winning 15 in a row were long BEFORE they won the first 14. They are not long now that we have already WON 14. Are you people seriously this stupid?

If the Patriots lose tomorrow, it will be because the Colts made the big plays when necessary. That's certainly possible. If that happens, we'll tip our hats to you, and wish you well. But there will be no excuses. The New England Patriots seem to me to be the only team, and fan-base, for whom excuses ring hollow. We play to win. If we lose, it's because we lost.

"Odds of running 15 straight wins may have caught up to the Pats"..hmmmm... Speaking of odds, how many interceptions has Manning averaged over the past couple years and how many does he have this year??
I'm pretty sure he's WELL below his average for this year. On that note, what are the odds of him throwing a couple up tommorow for the good ole' home team?

Sorry, misinterpreted your post. I'm sure it will be a good

There is no way the Horseshoes kick to Bethel. That would either be very arrogant or very stupid... unless they've really improved their KO coverage since they did it in the dome. Ooops, I mean maybe they've improved it since Dante did it to them last week! Oh & isn't Bethel the leading kick returner in the NFL, not Dante?

Guns,

The colts have horrible special teams coverage, and aren't bright enough to kick the ball away from Hall. Why do think that they will kick it away from Johnson? Arrogant? Stupid? Perhaps incompetent is the right word for their special teams coaching.

RE: Yawn....
Sun Jan-18-04 02:34 AM

In response to Post #15 in this thread:

BTW, I'm not sure why you guys are giving a good natured guest such grief. He is a colts fan who came over and said that we had a great team, great coaching, and a great quarterback. And surprise, surprise, he thinks his team will win. The fan said that the colts were hot and that the weather wouldn't be that bad, and that Woody would be a loss.
------------------
1. We DO have a great team.
2. We DO have a great coaching staff.
3. We DO have a great quarterback.
4. Their offense is as hot as any in a long time.
5. Hochstein IS a big stepdown from Woody (with Wilbert Brown and Gorin as backups). Woody WILL be missed.
---------------------
BOTTOM LINE

Of course, I disagree with the fan's conclusion. A superior and top offense will meet the best and stingiest defense in the league (especially at home). The result should be as it almost always is when this happens, the defense wins.

I would also add that while our offense isn't great, it is better than the colts defense.

We also have a slight special teams advantage. Their coverage teams are aweful. The other side of that is that they have advantages at both punter and kicker (with Vinitieri hurt).

THE BETTER TEAM WILL WIN, and that is the PATRIOTS.
