Back To The Fifties...
The most wonderful time in my life...Growing up in the
fifties. The best cars and the greatest music came from that time. It was
a time for Drive In's, Convertibles, Drag Racing, Elvis, Roller Rinks,
Midnight Movies, and Sock Hops. Life was simple then. It was an age of
Sweethearts, Innocence, Love Songs and just down-to-earth clean living.
The kids respected their parents and teachers, and most of all, folks feared
and reverenced God. The fifties was the greatest decade in the history
of America.
Remember When... 
The Platters sang Only You, and Twilight Time? The Five
Satins sang, In The Still Of The Night? Fats Domino sang, Blueberry Hill?
And though it was a little later on, remember Unchained Melody by the Righteous
Brothers? The best music ever recorded was Old Time Rock & Roll. I
had a lot of favorite songs back then, couldn't really say which was The
Favorite. Since I am sentimental, I am partial to the love songs, the ones
we could "slow dance" to. Could This Be Magic, This Should Go On Forever,
Lavender Blue, You'll Be My Love...The list goes on and on...Yes, the songs
of the Fabulous Fifties will live forever.
The Cars...
There has never been a car that equals the '57 Chevy Belair.
I never owned one but had friends that let me drive theirs.
And I have to mention the '59 Caddy. My dream car with
its tail fins and round pointed tail lights.
Of course let's not forget the '55 Ford, and the '57 Ford
Fairlane.
My older brother once owned a '56
Mercury just like the one pictured here.
Another friend drove a '56 Buick the same color as this
picture, but his was not a convertible.
