From Travis Skaggs
This is John Lerchen at LZ Baldy around November, 1969.

.  He was one of the people we picked up about the first of September or just a little later.  We had taken a lot of casualities in August and they must have been frantic to find enough warm bodies to fill us back up to strength.  A number of MPs from Danang were sent out to us.  John had only a few  months left in country when he joined us.  They were all pretty  hot about it too.  As short as they were the last thing he wanted was to join a rifle company back in the bush again.  I guess he got home ok, the last I saw of him was at Baldy and he was getting real short.

May 10, 2001.  Just made contact with John.  He now lives in Antioch, TN.
From Ray Rankin
This was taken at Hotel Battery the day we got there.  Ray Rankin sent me this picture.  From the front, left we have Tony Poole, and Roary Walsh.  In the back are Terry Oldham, William Gravelle, and David Dinehart.  Dinehart was shot August 12th, Gravelle and Walsh were wounded August 26th and 29th.  Tony Poole was wounded August 26th.

I think that William Gravelle was getting quite short when he was wounded.

When I returned from the 2000 reunion I was very pleseantly suprised to find that I had an email from Tony Poole.

Terry Oldham was sent to the rear in September when he got short.

January 11, 2001.  Just got off the phone with Bill Gravelle.  He lives in Miami and works as a fireman.  He seems to have done well with his life since Vietnam.
