From Travis Skaggs
Not everything about Vietnam sucked.  You did get free mailing priviledges.  So you were saved that awful glue taste you get when sticking on a stamp.

Getting mail in and out could be a challenge.  Typically they'd bring the mail every time they resupplied us.  About every three days when we were in the bush.  If you were at some permanent base mail was generally more regular.  Getting mail out when you were in the bush was more problematical.  About the best we could do was have someone gather it up for a platoon and hand it to one of the gunners on the helicopter.  They toss it in a sack or something and pass it along when they got back to their base.  It could be rather a hit or miss thing.
