Were you on Hill 953 on Oct. 13, 1969 when Lt. Pickett was killed?
If you were, Harold Wilson of Shinnston, West Virginia would like to hear from you.

About an hour ago, as I write this, Harold and I spoke on the phone.  For the first time in over 30 years, we spoke.  Harold was wounded pretty badly in January 1970.  We were on Operation Idaho Canyon on the south edge of Dodge City when the man in front of him tripped a mine.  Harold has been totally disabled ever since.

Lt. John Pickett was shot in the head by a sniper on the evening of October 13, 1969.  At about the same time Peewee (neither Harold nor I could remember his real name) was shot in the hand.  When Lt. Pickett was killed Harold was lying next to him.  Later he and LCpl. Moyer (Pittsburgh, PA) carried him down the mountain to where the choppers could get in.

After Lt. Pickett's death 2nd platoon was taken over by a some Staff Sargent, do you remember his name?  Harold thought his name might be Barnes and for some reason that struck a bell with me.  The next day the company went back to where the Lt. was killed and the SSgt. got his knee blown off.  I helped carry him down.  It was after dark, raining, steep, and the trail was nothing but mud.  We dropped him a couple of times and it just broke my heart to hear what it did to him.  It was awful, we felt so bad for him.
