When we found Richard Conway there was some old woman there, scavenging I suppose.  She looked like she was older that old to me at the time but it would not surprise me to find out she wasn't any older than I am now (53).  Most of Vietnamese looked young until thier 30's then they aged quickly.  By that age most of the women's teeth were stained black from chewing Betel Nut.  Betel Nut was a mild pain releiver and they used it to releive menstrial pains, but it is addictive so they ended up using it all the time.  I mention being worried about being mortared the night of the 26th.  Echo or Fox company had been in the battalion CP the day before and were mortared, 4 dead and 26 wounded.  But we had put a lot of artillery into the area where the mortars were so maybe they got them.
