The Pinto mentioned in the first few lines was Pfc. Joseph Pinto from Chicago.  Sgt. Ferguson was pretty impressed with his actions on the 25th and was going to put Pinto in for a Bronze Star.  Unfortunately, he was killed the next day while aiding some wounded Marines.  He had only been in country for a few days.

Richard Shelton was the point man, he was killed.  Roary Walsh was pinned down behind Shelton's body for a couple of hours.  Roary was wounded a few days later.

Jerry Southard was lying next to me when he was wounded.  A jet dropped a 250 lb bomb in the trees to our right.  A piece of shrapnel hit him in the back.  Both he and John Pedro came back to the company in a few days.
