The Getreidegasse This is one of the city's oldest streets (1363) and is lined with old fashioned shops and signs		The Residenz Cathedral Designed by an Italian architect in 1614 after the original cathedral burned down. There was a children's carnival in the Residenzplatz the day I was there

St. Peter's cemetery The cemetery is part of the ancient St. Peter's monastery complex, which dates back to 696 A.D.

Catacombs These catacombs were carved into the rock by early Christians

The cemetery is also where the Von Trapp family ("The Sound of Music") hid during their escape

Mirabell Palace, with a view of the fortress in the background. The palace was built by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich for his mistress and their numerous children		Funicular to the castle fortress

Hohensalzburg Castle Fortress Originally a Roman citadel, the fortress was remodeled and strengthened by successive archbishops of Salzburg
