LOW CARB EATING: WHAT IS IT??
Low-Carbing is not just a diet to be done for a short period of time- it is a way of life!!  Not only does low-carbing help you to lose weight rather quickly and without going hungry, it is a way to increase your energy, keep blood sugar levels under control, and reduce cholesterol levels, blood pressure and feel great!!  How do you do it you ask?  Basically the plan consists of cutting out Sugar, Flour, and Starches out of your diet.  That means-  no sugar, no bread, potatoes, rice.   So what do low-carbers eat??  Any type of meat-  beef, pork, chicken, and seafood, bacon and sausage,  cheeses, eggs, and don't forget the all important Veggies and limited fruits!!!  Also necessary to stay healthy and be sure to get all the nutrients there are vitamin supplements and of course plenty of water!  Does that mean we go and binge eat burgers and hot dogs and bacon and eggs every day?? NO!!!  That is one of the most common misunderstandings of the low carb way of life.  Where can you find out more about how and why it works for weight loss??  I suggest you get yourself to the library or bookstore and pick up a copy of one of the following books:

Each of these book has a different plan and a different way of explaining how it works, But they are all essentially the same and each plan has different requirements so you can find out what works for you.  I personally follow the Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution Plan and have found it to be easy and effective for me. 

DOES IT REALLY WORK??
I know this is the question that is burning into your head as you are reading this page.  How can you eat all that higher calorie food like meat, cheese and eggs and still lose weight?   Well, I am here to assure you that it does indeed work.  Since I began the plan in May of 1999, I have lost a total of 58 pounds!!  Yes you heard me 58!!
All without going hungry, starving myself or feeling deprived.  My energy levels have climbed to new hights and I plan to never go back to eating all that sugar.  How is my cholesterol you ask??  It is down to a healthy level of 168 and my doctor is completely happy and supports me in my new way of life.  (I always knew she was a smart woman.)  To the left is a picture of me taken on May 8, 1999.  I started the plan on May 12, and unfortunately havent taken any new pictures yet, though I plan to soon!  Now that I have my education finished, I encourage you to visit some of the other websites  on my links page and those in the low carbohydrate webring too!!  There is tons of information out there just waiting to be found!  So what's stopping you-  get out there and get healthy!!  As an RN in the ICU/CCU I have seen what being overweight can do to your body and especially your heart!! Take care of yourselves!
