Old    School

Punk began it's first stage of development in the late 60's (Approximately 67-69) with bands like the sex pistols just coming out of the under ground.  They spawned a group of people who believed that they could do anything they wanted, and refused to conform with what every else was doing.  It grew to a point where Punks started to disagree with any form of government.  The SexPistols (who came from England) were singing about they're queen and doing what everyone at the time would have considered a disgrace to they're country.

In the early to late 70's punk continued to progress and take on new fans with even more influential bands hitting the scene.  New bands began to appear Like: The Dead Kennedy's, The Misfits, The Ramones, and many other bands began to explore Punk rock as music.  These bands are still, in my opinion some of the best punk bands ever.

Punk entered its more recent sound in the 80's and 90's.  Bands like: the Dead Kennedy's, Misfits, and The Ramones were still around.  The Misfits eventually changed lead singers in 1983 and became much less influential in my opinion.  Then new punk music began to develop.  Bands like Black Flag, Nofx, Pennywise, and many others arose in response to a new generation of punk.
