GENDER REASSIGNMENT - MALE TO FEMALE
INTRODUCTION:
The surgical procedure you are planning to undergo is intended to achieve for you a vagina and genital area similar to that of a biological female.
Every effort is made to create a deep vagina allowing satisfactory sexual intercourse and a clitoris that is sensitive and capable of stimulation leading to orgasm; and to minimise disfiguring scars. These surgical goals cannot be guaranteed and you must be aware that there are risks in
volved with the surgery. If surgical complications arise then further surgery may be required.
Prior to your consultation we require that you have consulted with an endocrinologist and have been on female hormones for 12 months. We will also require a report from your endocrinologist. We also require you to have consulted with two individual psychiatrists and we will require a report from each doctor.

Dr Widdowson is a fully qualified Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon. A member of a number of Plastic Surgical Societies including Fellow Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Member of Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, British Society of Microsurgeons, British Association of Plastic Surgeons he has been practising Plastic, Cosmetic surgery for 20 years.
Dr Widdowson has been performing male to female gender reassignment surgery since 1994. He is one of only four surgeons in Australia and New Zealand to perform such intricate surgery, and is the only surgeon in Queensland.
