CHRISTI PROCTOR

BIO

Designer Christi Proctor brings a Texas-size imagination and a winning personality to the fourth season of Trading Spaces. While this is her national television debut, Christi also has a background in performance, having been a singer her entire life.

Professional Background: Christi earned her degree in interior design from Baylor University in 1988. Soon thereafter, she began working with architect Sterling Thompson, learning about building structures and architectural design. After various other jobs, in 1991, she started her own interior design business, Design Resources, a company she still owns and operates. In 1997, she decided to take her design dreams to the next level, joining a friend to open Spice Furniture and Design in the warehouse district of downtown Waco. A trendy boutique emporium, Spice holds an impressive 30,000 square feet of individual shops as well as upscale furniture, antiques and funky clothing accessories. Christi left Spice in April 2003, when she joined the cast of Trading Spaces. She is a licensed and registered interior designer, and is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. Her past projects have ranged from one-room makeovers to 7,000 square foot Caribbean beach homes, but now she's faced with the ultimate challenge: one room, two days and $1000.

Personal History: Born in Rock Springs, Texas and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Christi has never lived outside Texas, but has lived all over the state. The daughter of a Baptist preacher father, Christi's brother also shares the vocation. She and husband John have a son together, J.T., 5, as well as son Steven, 15.

Design Style: Christi's inspiration comes from the charm of the varied Texas cultures, the old west, and Europe. The result is an eclectic mix she likes to call "rustic elegance."

The Rooms: While she's still beginning her career on Trading Spaces, Christi's own home is a masterful mixture of varied textures, including natural woods, stone and found objects offset by antique china and opulent fabrics.
