About four years ago, I was given this 1970 Ford Ranchero
that looked nothing like it does now. It had the original paint, lots
of rust and the tailgate alone had about 2" of bondo on
it. Little by little I started to work on it in my spare time.
I started with the paint that I didn't like so I stripped it
all and put Hammerite paint on it because at the time I couldn't
afford a nice paint job.
Then I went on the hardest task of my
life, finding parts for the old Ranchero. My main task was to
search for a tailgate that was in better shape then mine. Then
last year I finally had enough money to actually restore my dream
car. I stripped all the paint off of it and had it done by a
professional. After having the paint job done I started to work
on the engine to make it look nicer. I started with a Elderbrock
Carb and from there I put on chrome valve covers, nickle chrome
headers, K&N air filter, chrome exhaust tips, 40,000 watt
volt coil, and much more.
Today it is still the car of my dreams. I never realized that
restoring old cars could be so much fun until I restored mine.
My next project is going to be restoring a 1964 Plymouth Fury. Email me and let me
know what you think of it.
