Fleetwood Mac
The Warehouse
New Orleans
30-31 Jan 70

Here we have FM's run at The Warehouse in New Orleans, LA. There are a few minor sonic anomalies on the tapes. However listen closely to the gems contained herein.  There has been considerable confusion about the exact number and dates of these shows. Some say only 2 shows were played; some say 3. I'm not sure myself but FM was part of a triple bill listed as: The Flock, Fleetwood Mac, and The Grateful Dead on 1/30/70, and 1/31/70. So it's a fact that FM played on those dates. (I have a concert poster jpg I can forward if you'd like).

There is a FM show that circulates as 2/1/70 but I'm fairly certain that it actually is the 1/31/70 show with a few track changes (Tiger deleted and Underway added) before Twist and Shout.

Listen to what Peter Green says before playing "All Over Again" He was obviously troubled at the time. About 5 months later he left Fleetwood Mac. He gives a stunning performance on this track!

The Grateful Dead supposedly played a bust fund benefit on 2/1/70 at The Warehouse as well (w/ Peter Green sitting in with them on Lovelight) which is why there seems to be some confusion about a FM show on 2/1/70.  It's not clear whether FM actually played on the 2/1/70 benefit show.  Regardless, another 'factoid' is quite interestting. According to a "source" the Warehouse was surrounded by police all three nights, but that didn't stop some fearless and reckless insider from dispensing a large amount of LSD to the crowds on hand and, in the words of Rolling Stone, "the bands blew the lid off the house."  ---- Ahhh, to be young, reckless and stupid again.

Mick Fleetwood remembering this night. "That Dead song with the line 'busted down on Bourbon Street' (Truckin', from the LP American Beauty), that was the night that Fleetwood Mac played with them at The Warehouse in New Orleans. Owsley had spiked the water fountains and after our set, John McVie was out of it, and couldn't handle the fact that the Dead were going to get up and play! So he stood in the audience while the rest of us jammed with the Dead. The audience loved it - a massive freak-out." That was what caused Owsley eventually to go to jail. We were nearly there. We were following their car back to the hotel, absolutely out of it on acid. I drove the car from the back seat with my feet while somebody else worked the pedals from the side - nobody was in the driver's seat. Oh God!" Mick nearly weeps. "We got lost, and by the time we arrived, they'd been busted . .  "Back in those days with acid and mescalin and stuff, we had a laugh - to start with. But these were isolated incidents. We weren't drug orientated at all, really. But when Jerry went off, we'd been in San Francisco, on mescalin . . ." SIRMick (July 2004)
