This is a very very early recording of the original 4 person FM lineup. The interesting thing about these sets are the fact that they were almost forgotten since the shows are not documented on the Bill Graham database.  FM was staying in the SF Bay area but doing shows up and down the West Coast including some dates in June '68 at the Carousel Ballroom. In July '68, The Carousel became The Fillmore West. Apparently, at the Fillmore shows on July 6-8, 1968, a band, The Truth, cancelled out and Graham asked FM to fill in so these became the first shows he did with them at the Fillmore West. What we have here are 2 audience recordings from 2 different nights.  The performance is excellent with some vintage Peter Green ripping it up in his usual understated style. The sound quality is not so good. It's listenable but certainly not SB or FM quality. The quiet songs are very good; the rockin' blues songs are a bit distorted at times. Regardless, I think the historical nature of this performance outweighs the sound. Other bands on the bill were The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Ten Years After and The Holy See .  .  so FM were not listed on any of the official concert posters on this day.
