Gregg Allman & Friends
Boston Music Hall
Boston, MA
9 April 74

As I've listened to this show several times, it always amazes me that Gregg Allman gave up so much stage time for Scott Boyer and Tommy Talton (aka Cowboy). I never appreciated Cowboy in the early 70's because I didn't really care for that country rock sound (Poco, Catcus, etc) but it's easy to see why Gregg gave up the limelight. These guys were great musicians and songwriters - interesting lyrics, chord progressions and arrnagements that was all very melodic and structured - a backporch kind of music that made you want to sit back, close your eyes and humm along. Here, they're embellished with a full band and even some horns. Cowboy's music - on vinyl and even CD has become quite rare.  I haven't seen any Cowboy ROIOs or sets in all my years of trading music. If you've got any - talk to me!  Oh, and by the way, Gregg delivers the goods during his show as well.
