HOLISTIC CARE FOR FELINES

When we discovered that Noel had Feline Leukemia we decided we would have to learn to care for her at home.

Using books that we purchased and advice of veterinarians we were able to help her although she became very ill her last few months.

Since her immune system was weakened by the leukemia, we did not use any chemicals to combat fleas, or to try and heal her.

We have continued to use the following things with the dogs and have not had a flea problem and the dogs coats are very shiny and they are doing well.

GENERAL CARE

CLEANING:

We washed the animals bedding each week and use Broax to kill the fleas that are brought into the house. We just dust the carpets and wait about 30 minutes, then vacuum. It helps with animal odors too.

SPRAYS:

We tried not to have to use sprays and when necessary chose to use the types with natural ingredients, such as pyrethrins.

GARLIC:

Does it work? We mix garlic with Brewer's Yeast and it seems to. We have heard both sides of the story, but it worked for Noel and it seems to work for the dogs. It will not work on Ticks though.

FOOD SUPPLEMENTS

Vita-Mineral Mix
This is the supplement we really think is good for cats and dogs. It can be stored in the refrigerator for about 3 months. We shared this with others and they say it worked for their cats too.
1 1/2 cups brewer's yeast powder
1/4 cup lelp powder or mixed trace mineral powder
1 cup lecithin granules
2 cups wheat bran
2 cups bone meal, calcium lactate, or calcium gluconate.
Mix thgother and store in a covered container. Be sure to refrigerate (everything but the lecithin and minerals parish at room temperature.
Add 1 teaspoon of the mix to each cat's meal (2 teaspoon's per day each).

Additionally: once a week give each cat 400 units of vitamin E and the contents of a vitamin A and D capsule.

We have given this same diet supplement to the dogs.
