Having heard the great Charlie Parker at the age of 16, Tots decided that the saxophone was to behis chosen instrument. Since then he has embarked on a career that has launched 3 solo albums, namely, Tots Tolentino(Vicor), Inah(Vicor) and Color Real (Dyna), not to mention the countless credits as session musician for almost every Filipino artist on the Philippine entertainment scene. His sound, described by critics as" passionate and energetic" as well as " articulate and authoritative" was strong enough to catch the ear of Asia's premiere jazzman, Terumasa Hino, who invited Tots to join the Asian Jazz Allstars. The group has toured Asia and the US. Presently with the Jazz groups Buhay (as leader) and Affinity(as sideman), he is currently active in the Asian jazz circuit. |
