91st Toronto Beaver Colony

Registration - Sept 12 - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Registration for all sections will be held at Bowmore School Junior Gym. Members, new and old, should attend this night to sign up for the section that you want.
Beaver 5-7 years old
Cubs 8-10 years old
Scouts 11-14 years old

Corn Roast - Sept 13 - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The annual Corn Roast and Campfire will be held at Ashbridge's Bay Park. The Corn Roast will begin at . Followed by a campfire. This is a family event. Parents are encouraged to attend. This is a good chance to meet the leaders and other parents and youth. So bring your appetite for corn and your singing voices for a night of fun and food.

Thanksgiving - Oct 4

We will be spending most of the meeting outdoors. Please arrive on time, as we will be leaving the church at 7:10 pm. We will be going to Rhoden Public School field to do some activities. We will return to the church for closing. If you arrive after 7:10 please meet us at the school yard. Please ensure that your Beaver is dressed for the weather (ie. coat and running shoes)

Argo Game Toronto vs. Edmonton - Oct 10 - 1:00 pm

Toronto Argonauts - Scouts Canada Kick Off Day. For only $5 a ticket you can join members of scouting from Central Ontario Councils for a Toronto Argonauts home game! Bring your Scouting family and friends!

91st is not attending as a group, but feel free to take advantage of this special offer.

Fall Camp - Oct 21 - 23

An all section camp. The Cubs and Beavers will be in a cabin and the Scouts will be tenting. There will be a joint campfire on Saturday night.

Join us for some camping fun! The 91st is having a joint fall camp at Everton Scout Camp in Acton (15 min east of Guelph). The Beavers will be staying at Lion’s Lair Cabin which is equipped with propane heat, light and stove; however, there is no indoor plumbing. Outdoor washrooms are close by.

Camp starts on Friday, October 21st around 7:00 pm and ends on Sunday, October 23rd no later than 11:00 am.

You are responsible for getting your child to the camp and picking them up. If transportation is a problem you can check with the Beaver Leaders as some rides can be arranged through them.

A list of things to bring and a map to camp will be available next week.

The Cubs will be joining us for meals and some activities during the weekend. There will be a campfire Saturday evening attended by all sections.

The cost for this camp is $30 per Beaver.

Your fitness and consent forms plus the fees are required Tuesday, October 18th to be able to participate in this camp. You can contact Norma Thompson (Rusty) at 416-463-8763 with any questions about this weekend.

There will be a limited number of spaces for adults. The cost for an adult will be $40. Contact Rusty to arrange for this.

Apple Day - Oct 15

This is an annual fundraising event. Groups from across Toronto participate in raising funds and raising awareness of Scouting in the neighbourhood. We will be canvassing near No Frills and nearby the church.

Halloween - Oct 25 - 6:30-8:00

We will be having a BIG Halloween Party at the church. The Cubs and Scouts will be joining us for the party. Be sure to wear your costume.

We are starting the meeting early to be able to fit in all the fun.

Investiture - Nov 1 - Bowmore

We will be having our investiture ceremony at Bowmore P. S. Junior Gym. We will be investing our new Kits as Eagar Beavers. They will be receiving their 91st Toronto neckers and badges for their vests. Families are invited to attend. This is a perfect opportunity for pictures. The Cubs will be joining us as they invest their tenderpads.

Nature Hike - Nov 15

The Beavers will be going on a nature hike through the neighbourhood. Please make sure that your Beaver arrives on time so that he can accompany us on this hike. We will be having a scavenger hunt during the hike.

Library Visit - Nov 29 - Ashdale Library

The Beavers will be heading to Ashdale Library. We will meet at the church and leave at 7:00 pm for the library. Please ensure that the Beavers arrive on time at the church basement so that the group can walk together to the library. The Beavers will be back by 8:00pm.

Christmas Tree Sales - December

This is our biggest fundraising event for the year and the one event where ask for lots of volunteers.  The trees are being delivered sometime during the first week of December and the tree yard is then open every evening and weekend until the last weekend before Christmas (Dec 24) or until we sell out, whichever comes first.   Our tree yard is located at  the Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church at 2029 Gerrard St. East (just east of Woodbine). Sometime over the next month or so, someone from Group Committee will be calling to see if you might be able to volunteer some time to help sell trees.  We will also need volunteers to help unload the trees when they arrive at the yard.  We will keep you posted on the arrival date.

Christmas Party - Dec 13 - 6:30 pm - 8 pm

The Annual 91st Toronto Christmas Party. Come join in the holiday fun. The Cubs will be joining us for this holiday extravaganza.

Movie Night - Dec 20 - 6 pm - 8 pm

Join us for pizza and a movie. Families come and see a movie at the church. Pizza and popcorn will be supplied. Admission to the movie is a non-perishable food item for our food drive. Please let us know how many people you expect to attend this event. Please note arrival time of 6 pm as the movie will start at 6:30 pm. The movie will be a family friendly flick, something everyone can enjoy. Hope you can join us for this celebration of the end of the year. This will be the last meeting of 2005. Beavers starts again January 10.

Winter Camp - January 6 - 8

Winter Camp will be held at Woodland Trails in Aurora. A joint camp with the 91st Cubs. The cost for the camp is $30/Beaver and $40/adult. As with the Fall camp there is limited space in the cabin. We will be offering space to those Beavers who did not attend the Fall camp first, then if there is room, to the rest. Until we have a better understanding of how many Beavers would like to attend, we are not sure how many parents we would be able to accomodate. More information to follow.

Raptors Game - Sunday Feb 5 - 5 pm

Special Event - Wed Feb 15

We will be visiting Playground Paradise on Wednesday Feb 15. There is no meeting on Tuesday Feb 14. Playground Paradise is a haven of indoor equipment to clamber over. The masterpiece is the two-storey climbing structure with a ball pit, green slides and dangling foam pipes. It is located at 150 Grenoble Dr. (at Don Mills Rd. and Eglinton Ave. E.) Please wear your uniform to the event, however we ask that parents take charge of hats and neckers before Beavers enter the climbing structure. (We don't want to have to go climbing to find a lost necker or try and find a woggle in the ball pit)

Fort York - Feb 18-19

Fort York Sleepover. This is still in the works. Saturday 10am - Sunday 10am. Experience the history of Fort York and sleep like the soldiers. We will spend the night in barracks just like the soldiers did in the 1800s. The barracks hold about 40 people, so there should be no problem accommodating all Beavers and some adults. BP Sunday Service - Feb 26

Baden-Powell Sunday (BP Sunday) is a day to remember our founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell. Scouts from around the world take the day to remember the beginnings of Scouting. To do this we attend a service provided by our sponsor, Glen Rhodes United Church. This service is a Scouting service to thank our sponsor. All members are asked to attend in full uniform.

Science Centre Sleepover - March 25 - 26

To be confirmed. Arrive Sat evening and spend the night learning about the Human Body. Then sleep amongst the exhibits. There is no limit to the number of participants at this event. Please try to come, it is an awesome night and Beavers rave about it for years. More Information to follow.

JOTT - May 12 - 14

JOTT - Jamboree on the Trails. This is an international event where Scouts from around the world all hike on the same say. This is a three day event.

Swim up - May 26

Swim up is an important ceremony for third year Beavers and Cubs. It is the time when they move from one section to the next. It is the marking of their growth through Scouting. White Tail Beavers will 'swim up' to Cubs becoming Tenderpads. Third year Cubs will 'run up' to Scouts.

Banquet - May 30

The annual Banquet is a fun time to get together with the families of the different sections to have a nice dinner and some entertainment.
