Incase you are living under a rock, the Splash has banned punk bands from playing shows.  So Mobile will once again be looking for a venue.  Currently the shows are being moved to the Vinyard.

Dillinger 4 and the Lawerence Arms joined Fat Wreck Chords last week.

The Face Trees are working on a new album called "Wale or No P.E."

In case you've been living under a rock, R&B singer and actress Aaaliyah was killed last Saturday when the small plane carrying her and 8 others back to the U.S. crashed after takeoff in the Bahamas.

The Alkaline Trio now have a new permanent drummer.  Pete Parada of Face To Face, who was filling in after Mike Felumlee left the band, has been permanently replaced by Derek Grant, formerly of the Suicide Machines.  Mike Felumlee, in addition to finishing up a solo album on his label Double Zero Records, has also gotten together with former Smoking Popes vocalist Josh Caterer and Tom Daily to form a new band called Duvall.

Weezer bassist Mikey Walsh has checked into a psychiatric hospital, possibly in his hometown of Boston; the band, unfortunately, still doesn't know what's wrong with him.  The band is scheduling tryouts for a replacement bassist JUST IN CASE Mikey is unable to return.  In other Weezer news, the band is learning new songs together in rehearsal and is up to 23 new (written within the last month) songs.

I was just informed that the name Top Dog Records has already been used--and by KID ROCK of all people!  So, the name must go as soon as possible.  I'm considering quite a few names and yes even Top Dog Wreck Chords so stay tuned.

In case you haven't heard, Alkaline Trio drummer Mike Felumlee (formerly of Smoking Popes) has left the band and will soon be releasing a solo album on Double Zero Records.  Mike will be replaced by Face To Face drummer Pete Parada, who will apparently juggle both bands.

While we're on the subject of departing drummers, Bad Religion drummer Bobby Schayer suffered a career-ending shoulder injury last May.  He will be replaced by Suicidal Tendencies drummer Brooks Wackerman.

In other news, the Ataris have finished their contract with Kung Fu Records and inked a deal with Columbia.  You can read a statement from the band on their
official website.

The new Green Day album, "Green Day's International Superhits," is scheduled for release on October 2nd and will feature 21 songs including all their radio and video singles plus 2 new songs.  A DVD with all of Green Day's videos is also scheduled for release.  It's rumored that "Green Day's International Superhits" will be the band's last album for Reprise and that they'll be moving to Billie Joe's indie label, Adeline Records, which is home to One Man Army, Pinhead Gunpowder, The Frustrators, and the Influents.

Also in the news, the band Cooter (who did an awesome split EP with Slick Shoes) have been forced to change their name due to legal action from a similarly-named Mississippi band.  Cooter's new name is Autopilot Off.  Their new website is, you guessed it, AutoPilotOff.com.

TDM has some sad news today for all you punkers:  Joey Ramone, legendary vocalist for the pioneering punk band the Ramones, passed away yesterday in a New York City hospital where he was being treated for cancer.  This is indeed a sad day in the world of punk rock, and we here at Top Dog Magazine offer our condolences to Joey's family as well as the other Ramones.  He will be missed!  Look for a Joey Ramone feature in the Features section in the near future.

Okay!  I know!  I know!  We never work on this page but now we are gonna get serious!  News will be updated at least once a week and stuff, so stay tuned.

First off, if you missed Clint's party last night, you missed a treat!  I know there was no DJ or a keg, but there was Russel Bryan and Thad!  I mean who can forget those immortal words: "Christy I love you!" and "I'll kick all yall's ass" and that body slam on Elizabeth Lane.   And of course Thad telling Jason Seales to "Step up Fat Ass" and him trying to hook up with anna!  Oh yea, and there was that whole thing of him getting his ass kicked!  I could go on and on with all the "I always thought you were taller and had brown hair, but i won't.

Oh yea and of course last week was the big show at Think Pink!  It totally rocked!  Atom, XbXrX, and Har Mar all ruled!  If you missed it, I feel bad for ya!  Well, thats all i can think of.  Later...
