Caption this for PALGN.com.au
Okay. Twice in two days... But I had to host a picture to caption... Won the caption contest, went into a panic looking for a pic, cheated (Googled) and found this one.

Okay. This is rediculous... I swear I'm going to start afresh and update the site regularly now that I have a better internet connection (not as good as uni was. Don't worry, Tootie will still be here. I'm just doing this bit so GeoCities can't say I'm linking to some pictures:
PALGN.com.au Avatar pic ... PALGN.com.au Sig Pic
I'm trying a new style: Pop art! I'm probably going to be flamed into getting rid of them within the day due to the extreme colour (yes it is me), but I feel like somehting different from Polarium combo I have now and this is the best I can come up with with MS Paint at the moment. Anyway, that's enough for the short update. Gotta go!

Ok, so I managed to be a dumbass this morning.
-{Again? What did you do this time?}-
I left home at 9, to get in at uni about 9:40, so I could print stuff off before my 10 lecture, except for the fact that it's Tuesday today and we don't start until 11.
-{Meaning...}-
I could've spent an extra hour at home playing Killer7, since I only got it yesterday afternoon, and have played about an hour of that, and half was spent trying to figure out the controls (damn they be weird)
-{But now you get to update your website! With me!!!}-
<sarcasm>Yay!</sarcasm> (A little bit of HTML Humor)
-{All righty then... What are we going to talk about today, then?}-
I'm thinking of updating the site a bit. Maybe start a fresh...
-{And lose my wonderful guestbook entries?!?}-
Maybe, maybe not. Don't sound so shocked. The Paul's Reviews section isn't anywhere as big as I thought it would be.
-{And who's fault is that?}-
Mine, but I thought I'd put one up every week, or so, but I'm lucky to update the site as a whole once a month, let alone the reviews section.
-{So what were you wanting to change about it?}-
I was thinking of puting a list of all games up there, with links to reviews, so that it would be a little bit of insperation to add more reviews
-{I think you jsut want to brag to the world about how many games you've got}-
That's a little bit of it, but more insperation. I also want to get rid of the archieves (might bring them back when there is more decent content), maybe flushing the main page (i.e. this one), and putting it as the first archieve.
-{That's good, I always seem to trip over them when I come in}-
I want to get rid of "index2" (Tigers), that was a good joke, but it didn't last lontg (stupid Sunrise competition), so sort of sucked. There are lots of pictures there that aren't used anywhere else that are taking up space.
-{It's not as if you're running out of server space, though}-
I know, but if I plan to expand the site, then I WILL need some extra space. Oh, and the Tripod Mp3's might go...
-{Not the Tripod MP3's, anything but the Tripod MP3's!!! Have mercy}-
I don't know whether you're being sarcastic of not...
-{Me either, actually. It started for real, then ended sarcastic, so it's a bit of both}-
Anyway, I thought I'd replace them with other good/funny/rare/video game ones (i.e. Super Mario will stay), as the Tripod ones are crap quality, and people should go out and buy their CD's to show that people want their CD's and so they'll make more CD's.
-{Alrighty then, whatever you say}-
Just so you know, nothing is going to get done on this update, cause I have to go into class in a minute.
-{I sort of assumed that.}-
oh, and I also plan on maybe putting a few new pics up... of us.
-{What?}-
Well, since the crappy LEGO camera doens't work (only on Windows 98 and we have XP), I can't even get the crappy ppics, but even when I could, I didn't really want to put them up as they're crappy (low quality [pixil] and no flash [dark] etc)
-{that makes sense}-
but now that we have a new digital camera, the possibilities are endless!
-{Hooray for the endless possibilities... Eh, I'm over them now.}-
But this also means that I might be able to get better pics of games (not sure how to take proper pictures of screens yet, although I coudl hook it up via RF/Video Capture Card and take screenshots... Now that's and Idea!)
Aren't you meant to be in class in, like, one minute??}-
Whoops, yes! Ok, bye everyone (Fiona and Karen)!
-{Bye-ee!}-

-{Howdy!}-
Hey, I'm meant to be first!
-{Yeah, but you're too slow.}-
I was just reading Fiona's Live Journal and thought I might put a link onto her site, since she mentioned us.
-{That, and she demanded you update in MY guestbook}-
Well, it gives me a reason to update!
-{And...}-
And Foamy the Squirrel. Go to the 'Vault' up the top, and they have Flash videos. The first one i saw was 'Squirrel songs'. They are very funny!
-{They are very funny, but how in the hell did you find them?}-
I'll have to thank Cathy from uni. Her kids found it (somehow) and she mentioned to me that it was 'Foamy the Squirrel'. A quick Google search later, and presto!
-{I'd just like to thank Cathy for this find}-
Even if it isn't what she found. Anyway, that's all for this update!
-{Really?}-
Yep. Bye everyone!

-{Rex the Runt is here!!!!!!! Huzzah!!!!!!!!!!!!!}-

Ow! No need to shout!
-{I'm sorry, bbut I'm so excited!!!}-
By the use of all those exclamation marks, I can see that. Just a little update to say that Rex the Runt has arrived, and Tootie is really excited.
-{Damn straight I am!!!!!}-
He's been watching it almost non-stop. I think he's going to wear out the DVD player.
-{Damn straight I am!!!!!}-
It was fast postage. It got here over the weekend.
-{Damn straight it did!!!!!}-
Ok, that's enough...
-{Damn straight it is!!!!!}-
*sigh* Go back and watch Rex...
-{Damn straight I will!!!!! *runs off*}-
Finally...
-{Damn str...
TOOTIE!
-{All right, I'm going. *runs off again*}-
*waits*Good. He's off watching Rex the Runt, and I'm at uni wasting a little bit of time before class. That's all I really wanted to put in this update, plus updating the "Doing" list. I guess I'll see you all later!

Hello. I'm Rex, and welcome to my world.

Hello. Another quick update. Tootie's off waiting for the mailman to come with the Rex the Runt DVD I won on eBay, even though I only won it last night. Anyway, I'm just here to say that I've removed the link to the evil site of Bonsai Kitten two posts ago (It got an 'evil website alert'). Normally I wouldn't do that sort of thing (like suggesting it should be taken down), but it's just more free advertising for it. I don't care that it's a joke, it doesn't derserve the webspace that's hosting it, and I'll be damned if I'm going to help it get more hits. If you really want to look it up (not that I would recommend it), just Google it, and I'm sure it'll come up somewhere near the top. Nothing else to say, other than:

I CAN'T WAIT FOR REX THE RUNT!!!!!

That's all, folks!

Ok! I'm done re-cafoobaling the energy motron! Or whatever!
Just Pauly!

Public Service Announcement
Apparantly the Bonsai Kitten website is a fake. I got a bit carried away, but it is definately tasteless as far as jokes go. I'm not normal for censorship, but I think I can make an exception in this case. The site is a FAKE and should be taken down, and I'm sorry for the (five, i think) people that I sent that e-mail onto. Please ignore it and don't send it on, as that would be extra advertising for a site that doesn't deserve to exist. Thank you.

Wow, it's been awhile.
-{It sure has. The last post was the day before your 21st. To not update until now must mean that you had one hell of a hangover!}-
No, it just means that I haven't updated in ages. And there is a reason I'm updating this today: Bonsai Kitten *EVIL WEBSITE ALERT!!!*.
-{Just wait here, I'll go have a look...}-
time passes...
-{oh, my GOD! This is sick, and not in a good way. This is seriously fucked up!}-
I know.
-{How did you find out about this abomination of animal cruelty?}-
I got an e-mail petition thing. Normally I wouldn't have anything to do with that sort of thing, but it didn't have a subject line. I opened the e-mail, read the first few lines, went to the site, and was completely outraged!
-{So you ought to be, this person is sick! How can you stuff a kitten in a jar?}-
And call it a souvenir?
-{That is the worst part of all! I don't how anyone could get away with this without the animal protection people coming down on them like a tonne of bricks.}-
That's the thing, in the e-mail, it said that the site was taken down once, but went back up. Why in the hell was it allowed back up?!?
-{I don't know, but that's just disgusting and cruel. Let's talk about something else... I think, I'm gonig to throw up...}-

-{I feel a bit better now}-
That's good to hear.
-{How did you're results go?}-
Alright. I'll start from the lowest and work my way up:
* 67 - C - MAA303 - Auditing
* 73 - D - MSC347 - Information Systems Management
* 82 - HD - MSC220 - Small Business Systems
* 82 - HD - MLC301 - Principals of Income Tax Law.
-{They sound damn good, except Auditing could've been a bit better}-
Yeah, but when compared to my friends, they're fantastic. If I had only gotten 3 more points for auditing... *sigh*
-{Oh, well. Hey, weren't the two HD ones the ones that clashed?}-
Yes, surprisingly. The exam for MSC220 gave you lots of choices, so that made it easier, and I just seemed to go good in MLC301.
-{So what's up for your last semester, hopefully?}-
I have got, in no particular order:
* MAA301 - Financial Accounting Theory and Practice
* MLC305 - Business Tax Law
* MSC217 - Database Management for Business
* MSC350 - MIS Risk Management.
-{Sounds sweet.}-
I should note that there may be only 2 or 3 of us in MSC350.
-{Huh?}-
Well, theyt don't run it offcampus, so they have to have a class. Also, no textbook of any kind, not even a study guide. Also, MLC305 uses the tax books from first semester, so that saves about $200!
-{Looks like you're getting out of this last semester cheaply!}-
I know! Just a quick note: The table up the top is a little thing which, at this point, is going to be a regular. I can just change a couple of things, and slot in what we're doing without having to go into a heap of detail in this area.
-{That's convienitntsndaslkjdslkg... I can't spell. *frowny face*}-
Yes it is very convenient.
-{Damn you! *waves fist* Hey, I don't really have a fist...}-
No you don't. As a favor to Karen, I'm trying to find the picture of the turtle who stole Grandpa's teeth.
-{What, off the Simpsons?}-
Yeah, but no-one seems to have it on the internet!
-{Why not? I thought that ewoul've been first up!}-
Me too. Before we sign off I'm putting a call out to anyone who has a picture of that (Turtle with Grandpa's teeth, not sure if grandpa is wanted in the shot or not), could you please e-mail it to: tootie_kicks@yahoo.com.au.
-{I wouldn't mind having that picture, as well}-
Now we have to sign off, and say goodbye!
-{bye-ee!}-

Ok! I'm done re-cafoobaling the energy motron! Or whatever!

This is only gonna be a short update today.
-{You've said that before, and they've ended up being long.}-
I know but this time I mean it! I have work to do, assignments to write... readings to catch up on...
-{Oooooooooo!}-
Shut up. Now, this is gonna consist of a lot of YELLING to get my point accross quickly.
-{Noted... Ready! Ears blocked!}-
Ok then, here goes...

I'm turning 21 tomorrow (5th May 2005)!

-{That's 5/5/05! And only a month until you get your full licence!}-

Congratulations to Chris and Karen getting engaged!

-{Yay for them!}-

I have a fucking exam clash!

-{Ya... Oh. That's not good.}-
No, it isn't
-{How do you do two exams at once?}-
I don't. I sit one in the morning (Income Tax), get put in quarentine (it's really just G101) and then do the other exam in the later period (Small Business Systems). And I have to do them in a different room, so I don't get to see my friends.
-{That SUCKS SUX MAJORLY, dude.}-
What the...? Ummm, yes it does.
-{I was just trying a new tag I learnt not long ago... No need to get weird about it...}-
Sorry, I just thought you'd turned into a hippie or a surfie or something (Damn hippies!).
-{No. Still just a sock.}-
Good. I said I'd keep it shourt, so I'm gonna sign off now.
-{Good for you! Bye-ee}-
Bye everyone!

THE WARRNAMBOOL CITY BAND IS NOW ON THE INTERNET!
-{There's no need to shout... What's the URL?}-
www.warrnamboolcityband.aunz.com, and I created it!
-{So that's two websites now?}-
Three actually.
-{Three? What's the third one?}-
I'm now the website designer for the Deakin University Commerce Society, or DUCS.
-{*Quack*}-
You are so original...
-{Thank you.}-
There is a temporary website (which will probably develop into the real site) at www.deakin.edu.au/~pkhow. This is (currently) using my actual webspace at Deakin (which everyone has, but may not know about [it's on W:/ drive {as opposed to H:/ drive}]). Wow! That was a lot of brackets!
-{It was. And it seems that they were actually used when they were meant to be used (as opposed to other times you've tried it).}-
Not much else to say now.
-{What about replying to Fiona who left another message on my GuestBook... How come that wasn't a link!?!}-
I can't be stuffed finding the URL for it. There's a link at the top AND bottom of the page AND on the link page. Get used to it.
-{Anyway, she wrote on here because there's no guestbook on the Warrnambool City Band site.}-
Well... Short answer to the question 'will it have a guestbook?': "No guestbook"
-{Long answer?}-
Because I do this through GeoCities (you see their ads down the right hand side), a bonus feature I can implement is a guestbook. Since the Warrnambool City Band site is out there on the internet in an un-user friendly zone, i'd have to either make it myself or find somewhere that speciallised in it, for free (or possibly a [very] small cost).
-{So why don't you make it? You've got the skillz!}-
Bare essential skillz. My skillz certainly can't pay the billz. I wouldn't know where to start. And right now I've got a MCQ test and a proper assignment due on Monday (who puts the assignment due date on ANZAC DAY?!?), and if I was going to find someone else to host it, if i'm getting a guestbook I may-as-well get a message board. AND that would be more complex, and did I mention that I don't have the time at this exact moment? I'm actually kinda amazed that we actually have a website...
-{How come?}-
It took a lot of stuffing around to get it to the point it is now. The company (I'm not sure exactly who is actually hosting it) made an account for the Warrnambool City Band. I think it was bare essentails, and I think they expected me to use FrontPage or something...
-{I thought you did! You have Office 2004.}-
I've used it in high school. I don't actually have FrontPage, so I thought the I'd FTP (File Transfer Protocol) in to the area.
-{So far, so good. What went wrong?}-
Like I said, I think it was a bare bones account. The sheet thing they sent me thru email made it seem that way. It didn't have a username or password for FTP, which is what screwed me up.
-{Why do you need a user name and password?}-
So they know who's doing what and which site is which. I said to the guy (he goes to band) that I needed a user name and password for FTP so he said he'd see what he could do. He sent me a couple of emails with gibberish attachments (as opposed to the first one) and then it kinda went off the rader for over a month cause he kept missing band. Then he comes and says 'has it worked' I say 'no, can you send me another copy of the original thing, but with the new info on it?' he does it, and now we've got a website cause it actually says something!
-{... I'm sorry, you're finished? I think I spaced out there...}-
*grumble* The point is I can now FTP in and put the site up.
-{Yay! And with high speed interne tat uni, it wont take very long! Yay!}-
Actually, it doesn't work at uni.
-{Why?}-
I think it's something to do with the user access rights to certain actions, and the computer administrators not letting students FTP, as a precaution against hackers, virii, worms, etc.
-{Well, that's a bit of a bummer...}-
Not really. All the stuff has been small in size, and if it's too big, it probably isn't worth it. My only worry is trying (and failing) to set up a discussion area from home. If the people do it all, and all I have to do is put a link up, then all well and good, but if I need to do programing, or uploading stuff, then it might become a bit big. But I need to look into it first.
-{You do that. Now, shouldn't you do some uni work?}-
Yes. Yes, I will. Bye Fiona (I doubt anyone else comes here, maybe Simon).
-{Don't be so negative. Bye-ee!}-

Ok! I'm done re-cafoobaling the energy motron! Or whatever!

-{Oh, my GOD!}-
What?
-{While you were doing your assignment...}-
Trying to do it, you're not helping.
-{Whatever, I went to Yahoo Australia, advanced seach (although it may work in the normal search at top of previous page), typed in "tootie kicks", and guess who came in number 1? US!!! Woo!!!!!!}-
Really?
-{Yep!!!!}-
Wow, I guess that's good.
-{That is damn excellent, my friend!}-
I think you're getting a bit TOO enthusiastic about it.
-{Just because you have to do assignments before going out with your friends, doesn't mean that I can't have a little fun.}-
*sigh* Can we leave this to later so I can get back to my assignment before I go out with my friends? They are due on the 11th and 12th.
-{Alright. I'll go back to trawling the net for good stuff. Bye-ee!}-
Bye everyone.

Congratulations!!!

-{Why all the hooha?}-
We have a winner!
-{Huh?}-
Someone got the quote!
-{Quote? Oh, at the end of each update!}-
YES! It was Fiona (I think)! You get the amazing prize of: nothing, except the satisfaction that you spotted the quote without watching Stargate SG1 (apprently...)!

Time passes...

-{Paul? PAUL! Well, it looks like we've lost him to SomethingAwful (the ROMPit in particular, I think), so I may as well wrap this up and say a big congratulations (again) to Fiona for getting the quote, even though she doesn't watch StarGate SG27. Bye-ee!}-

"You may feel a slight tingling feeling. *turns around* All of you."

Ugh.....
-{I'm with you, buddy.}-
Too early in the morning...
-{Why does Mat have to be in the band? Why do we have to take him in there at 8:00? Why can't it be a nice time, like 10:30?}-
Then it would overlap school, and that's not good (apparently).
-{But this isn't good either!}-
I know, but we have to do it for him. Getting out of bed at 7:00, leaving by 7:30, arriving at Warrnambool College by 8:00, being at Deakin by 8:10...
-{It doesn't help that you don't have class until 10.}-
No it doesn't.
-{But then I guess it means that you don't really have an excuse not to update the site (this semester at least)}-
I think I'd be right if I had a nice hot cup of coffee...
-{Not me, it keeps me up all night.}-
But the stupid vending/coffee machine only accepts coins and I don't have any coins!
-{Lucky for you that nothing is open to change your notes into coins.}-
What? No it isn't, that the point! It's too early for Cashier/Cafe to be open, so I can't get coins. If the Cafe was open I could go over there to get a coffee, so I wouldn't have to worry about coins... or something.
-{If you could be bothered to walk over there.}-
Which I might not... Ugh.

-{So what 'news' do you have for the people today?}-
Not much... ummm... thank you, Fiona, for being the only person to contribute to the guestbook.
-{Why doesn't anyone else like me?}-
I don't think it's that. I think it's that I didn't update the site for at least 4 months...
-{At least 4 months?}-
... I'd work it out, but I can't be bothered looking. Anyway, I don't think anyone apart from Fiona and maybe Simon (possibly Karen, but I don't think she has access to the internet since she left TAFE) come to the site anymore.
-{Boo hoo. Surely you have more news than that?}-
I'm thinking of doing Honours in Accounting...
-{Now there's news: Good student thinks about doing honours in subject he's good at. What a revelation!}-
Excuse me while I wipe the sarcasm dripping of Tootie,
-{Who's being sarcastic now?}-
Ummm, YOU.
-{Ok, I'll admit that}-
There's no need to be that nasty. I'm only mentioning it because I don't have anything else to say.

Time passes

Ok, so I just went to the Something Awful website.
-{Is that where you disappeared to?}-
YEs, and it is as funny as shit (really funny shit)!
-{Eh. It past nine, so we should go and actually do something.}-
I agree. I'm sorry if this post was a waste of space, but it at least gave me something to do.
-{No one's figured the quote out yet}-
Seeing as Fiona is about hte only one to view the site, I'm not surprised. Bye everyone!

Just another little update to say 'hello'.
-{There, you've said it. Ca we go now?}-
No, Tootie. You're just being rude.
-{Fine... umm... ah... spam. Can we go now?}-
Why are you so egar (can't spell that), enthusiastic to go.
-{I'm tired, I wanna go home and go to bed.}-
That's your fault for staying up all night and playing WarioWare Touched!
-{Can I help it if the 180+ microgames are addictively addictive? No.}-
I suppose there could be worse things you could be doing.
-{What? Like downloading pron and putting it on as the desktop background?}-
I guess that would be pretty bad.
-{What was the real reason you wanted to update the site again so soon? You said it yourself: "I probably won't update again in a while..."}-
I dunno... I guess updating that one time last week made me want to do it a bit more regularly, although I should probably have some news to put up here if i'm going to update again soon.
-{Me thinks you should.}-
I suppose I could say 'congratulations' to Karen (and Chris, I guess). You've moved (or ar moving) out of that sorta crappy place you were renting, into a better place you'll be renting.
-{You haven't actually been there yet, so you're assuming it's better, aren't you?}-
Yes. But it can't be worse than having only two rooms and a 'hallway' of sorts.
-{The 'bungaloo of doom'?}-
Not really, it's just too small for someone with a lot of stuff. And now Karen and Chris can live together.
-{Huzzah for them... right?}-
Yes. I could really go a Vanilla Coke right now...
-{Where the hell did that come from???}-
I dunno, but it's true!
-{I'm not doubting the truth of it, it was just a bit irrelevant to... well, to anything!}-
I guess. It's almost time for class. Auditing. Yay. One hour Monday afternoon. It takes longer do drive in and out than the lecture does. Can you remember what room it's in?
-{Gee, that sucks. Umm... B305 I think. Why don't you look at your timetable?}-
I can't be bothered.
-{You really are lazy today, aren't you?}-
More than just today, I think. No-one's answered correctly / answered the quote yet. Keep (not) trying. Anyway, we better be going. See you later.
-{Have fun! Bye-ee!}-

Whew! It's been a while.
-{I'll say.}-
But it's good to once again unleash my voice into the ocean of voices that is the World Wide Web!
-{No, your just updating to get Fiona to stop nagging you.}-
OK, there is that... But it is still good to know that I have a voice, and that it can be heard...
-{By about three people}-
...that it CAN BE HEARD and possibly influence their opinions. Or not.
-{It's good to know that you're not deluding yourself!}-
*sigh* Tootie, you are being more annoying than normal, and it is starting to get annoying... more annoying... REALLY annoying!
-{I'm being annoying and that's starting to get annoying? You have compleately mastered the art that is the English language, Paul}-
You know what I mean!
-{Unfortunately, I do. I wouldn't be so annoying if you would update the site more often. You just whip me out whenever you fell like it (not very often) and just fool around.}-
You know that I've been working all summer, and after a long HOT day in the beach kiosk you don't feel like interacting with other people (real or imaginary) very much. Now can we please stop whining and talk about something else? I probably won't update again in a while...
-{Like usual!}-
... so let's talk about something at least.

The Nintendo DS launched on the 24th of Feburary!
-{And you had one on launsh day, didn't you?}-
Yes! Mat (brother) and I went halves in one and bought a game each. The games cost the same as GameBoy Advance games,
-{$70 Aus, for all you people not in the know.}-
I got WarioWare Touched, and Mat got Super Mario 64 DS.
-{Super Mario 64 DS?!?}-
Yes. It's mostly a port of the Nintendo 64 classic, but there are quite a few changes.
-{I guess they thought they couldn't get away with a straight port.}-
Well, there are 150 stars instead of 120, there are four controllable characters (Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Wario) and lots and lots of mini games that make good use the touch screen of the NDS!
-{You're starting to sound like an infomercial. OK, so it's fairly different. But how did they manage to change the analog control to fit a (basically) digital D-pad? Answer that, mister 'Nintendo Fanboy'!}-
That is a bit of a problem. You can use the D-pad for control (default) which is easiest to use, but lacks precision. You can use the stylus and the touch screen to move in 2 different modes, but it is a bit awkward using the stylus and control buttons, so I've only used that mode when precision is absolutely needed.
-{OK, so it's not perfect, but it's certainly usable. What was WarioWare like? I liked the first ones cause you could play for short times, didn't have to worry about remembering (or not) a story, and lots of games right after each other was insane fun (although the GCN version being a PORT of the GBA version was a bit dissapointing [even with the multiplayer modes])}-
WarioWare is subtitled 'Touched' for a reason, and has been the game I've been showing to people when I show them the NDS. You only control the game with the touchscreen and, a lot less, the built-in microphone.
-{Sounds like fun!}-
It is! Games range from tapping the screen to pop baloons, to rubbing the screen to erase a chalkboard the dragging lit matches around to light candles on a cake, and each game lasts for five seconds!
-{Any other games at launch? Surely there was more than just two?}-
There were, but these two were the best of the lot, being Nintendo games. There was a tiger woods golf game (that my boss really enjoys on the XBox), a racing game, a communication game similar to the built-in Pictochat...
-{Built-in Pictochat?}-
... I haven't really gone into that yet. The game seemed too much like it, and also required other people with NDS' (at least) and copies of that game (more likely). A puzzle game called 'Zoo Keeper' sounded interesting and also a game called 'Sprung' about using pick-up lines (which used the two screens to a good extent - them on top screen, you on bottom [touch] screen with you touching you lines.). Zoo Keeper actually sounded like a good game (similar to the way Tetris is a good game), while Sprung sounded alright, but was about $20 cheaper than the rest. Oh, and there was a 'Spiderman 2' game, similar to GBA version.
-{Sprung sounds like a good chioce: "Hey baby, wanna try me on for size? *oogle*" Cheap too.}-
Cheapness would be the main reason I'd buy it, yes. Pictochat: this is built-in chat software, similar to a chat room, in which you can type messages using the on-screen keyboard, or free-draw using the stylus. It sounds like a lot of fun, but there are two problems, maybe three. 1. You need other people with NDS' and they're a little thin on the ground, at least where I live (two people ordered them [me included] at the local store). 2. Almost a subpoint, but: once there is a NDS around, it needs to be in Pictochat to see other people in Pictochat, if you're gaming, you can't see people in pictochat(yet). 3. The range is too short! 10 meters, guaranteed (30 feet). The US says it will work up to 100 feet (30 meters) in good conditions, although we get told 20 meters (60ish feet). Discrepency? So it may be good while commuting on public transport, but not really anywhere else, unless you're setting up a session, and then you may as well talk to the people you're setting up the session with, cause they'll be friends.
-{A few small downfalls, it seems}-
Yeah, not living in the center of a major city sucks (for this at least).
-{anything else you want to tell us about the NDS? Cause aren't you at uni, before class? Shouldn't you be reading a study guide or something?}-
Ummm... yes. I had to take my brother into band practice before school, and have a blood test this morning. After that I had a McDonalds breakfast, then came out to uni. I thought I'd check e-mail and update my site, then start reading, but this update is taking way longer than I thought (i.e. I was going to do a couple of paragraphs. It turned into a couple of pages).
-{Wait a second that link doesn't take you to the McDonalds website.}-
No, but it certainly is interesting reading.

After the whole informercial on the NDS, I have one more little rant before signing off.
-{What now?}-
You know what really pisses me off?
-*sigh* {No. Tell me what really pisses you off.}-
It really pisses me off that the government (in Australia [more specifically John Howard]) made the election promise that, essentally, interest rates wouldn't rise. There was even a whole smear campaign against the opposition implying that if the opposition got into power rates would rise by at least 10%.
-{And what part about this really pisses you off?}-
the fact that John Howard (or whoever the prime minister is) doesn't have any direct control over interest rates. I'll make it clear: NO DIRECT CONTROL! That is the power of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). the RBA decides the interest rate. The government can spend or not spend to influence the economy a bit so rates might not need to change, but that is to a very limited extent. If they wanted real power, they would have to create a law stopping people from buying property.
-{I can understand how this can be annoying, but why has it pissed you off so?}-
John Howard used it as an election promise. I'm paraphrasing here, but this was from his electio campaign: "If you vote for me interest rates will fall about 2%. If you vote for the opposition interest rates will rise more than 10%!" Not only is claiming to have a power which he does not have (the RBA controls interest rates), he was scaring ignorant people into voting for him by claiming he has a power which he does not have.
-{Ok, that really does suck!}-
I know! And now (or at least, soon) John Howard has (will have) control of the Senate, so there goes Telstra out the window, University's down the drain, and the GST through the roof! (maybe not the last one, but I wouldn't put it past him.)
-{Oh my God, Australia's up the creek without the paddle!}-
Yep! We sure are! Thanks alot, voters of Australia!

Now that the rants out of the way, we better sign off and go to class
-{20 minutes to go.}-
I hope your happy now, Fiona. This was all for you. Oh, and I wonder if anyone can spot where today's quote is from? Hit the guestbook if you know! Bye everyone!
-{Bye-ee!}-

"We are one Zat gun short of actually having a Zat gun."

Hi! Just a quick update to say that Tootie's GuestBook has been flushed of all entries and is rearing to go with your comments!
-{About time, too!}-
Sorry... I didn't know it had a limit of only 50 entries.
-{So who should we thank as the saviour of free speech as we know it on the Tootie Kicks website?}-
I would like to thank Brooke for e-mailing me about it. Well, it's more Tootie thanking you, but you get the point.
-{Wait! You said 'flushed of all entries'. Does that mean that the beautiful work of art that is my GuestBook is now gone forever?!?}-
Fortunately (or unfortunately) no. GeoCities has a method of archiving the GuestBook, which I did before deleting all the entries.
-{Whew! You had me worried there for a second. So were can people find the old entries?}-
It's in Archive 1. There is also a link to it on the Links page. It's right down the bottom.
-{What?!? This is an outrage! Why is my sacred text placed at the very bottom of the page?}-
It's down there because I don't think most people will want to look at it, but it's there for the few that will (including you, Tootie). Why would I place it top and center if hardly anyone looks at it?
-*grumble* {Good point...}-
Anyway, that's all for now, so I suggest that you start signing the GuestBook with gusto, forcing me to archive it again.
-{I will!}-

"Is that a cigarette you're smoking?" "No, it's a chicken."

Community Service Announcement:Tootie has changed his writing from 'italics and inside {}' to 'inside -{}-'. This change was made to ensure that the 'Tootie Kicks' website had a maximum readability, while ensuring that reader's were aware of the change in 'voice' (Incedentally, it also makes it easier for the webloser of the 'Tootie Kicks' site so he doesn't have to write all those fucking italics tags).

Ooooh. Has it been a while!
-{Yes.}-
That wasn't a question, Tootie.
-{Well, how was I supposed to know that?}-
For starters, it didn't have a question mark...
-{Ok, I get your point.} *sulk*-
What I was going to say, was that it's been almost two, no THREE months since I last updates!
-{Whoopdi-do, Paul. I care how?}-
You don't. I just wanted to say 'sorry' to all my fans that check daily to see if I've updated the site
-{You're kidding yourself. You DO know that, don't you?}-
Yeah... It's more likely to be Fiona checking once a month, if that, and then reminding me to update at band or via e-mail.
-{If you're lucky.}-
Well, Tootie, you still can't depress me because I'VE FINSIHED EXAMS!!!
-{That was loud, wasn't it? Bold and Capitals.}-
I don't care, because I've finished for the year, and now I just have to wait until December 3 (give or take a few days) to get my results!
-{What marks are you hoping for?}-
MAA 202 (Good Accounting) - I'm thinking distinction, but I'd settle for a credit,
MAA 260 (Bad Accounting) - I'd like a credit, but I'd settle for a pass (just so I don't have to do it again),
MMH 299 (Communications) - Distinction,
MSC 228 (Info) - Like a distinction, but settle for a credit (would've been lower, but I thought the exam went fairly well).
-{Sounds reasonable.}-
Yeah... except that I haven't got below a distinction before, so I think my parents would be a bit shocked if I got a couple of passes.
-{If they complain, just ask them if they want to do the subjects for you.}-
Let's talk about something else, shall we...

It somehow landed on me to create a website for the Warrnambool City Band.
-{Woah, woah, woah! Back up! Why would Ross (conductor and band 'patron' of over 50 years [I think]) want a wesite?}-
Weren't you concentrating at the Warrnambool City Band Annual General Meeting?
-{No, why?}-
*sigh* Ross isn't the conductor anymore, Breandan (or Brendon [or possibly some other spelling {but not 'Steve}]) is the new conductor or Music Director, if you will.
-{Anything else interesting at the AGM?}-
I also got nominated for treasurer, by about 4 people (out of the 7ish there).
-{Exciting.}-
Yes, quite. Anyway, Brendin (Trombone player, so he must be good) is all for promoting the band, and one idea he had was a band website, with links to it on various tourist-y sites about Warrnambool, the City Council site, etc. Somehow he finds out that I have a little website (I'm glaring at you, Fiona. *glare*), and he wants me to whip up a page.
-{Well, you make this site, so it can't be that hard, can it?}-
This site is just sort of thrown together...
-*gasp* {I never would've known...}-
...with whatever *new* skills I've got at that moment plus a few basics. Well, the problem is that the band website would have to look a bit more professional or no-one would take it or the band seriously (I can tell that no-one takes this site seriuosly [You're not meant to, by the way]).
-{I'm starting to see what you mean.}-
Believing that I'd do a hopeless job, I kept putting it off (that, and exams). Since exams are now finsihed, and I wanted to do something other than play the GameCube (or Mat came home and wanted to play it), I thought I've give it a crack!
-{What were the results?}-
Have a look for yourself. So far, I've only done the basic outline, including the title and links. The actual text is just little notes that I've written to myself, so that will change. The links are meant to look like some music notation, and they currently just link to the page itself.
-{How can other people 'have a look for myself' if it's on our computer? Did you ever think of that, Paul?}-
I did, actually.
-{Oh. Thanks for bursting my bubble.} *sulk*-
There's a link to it on the Links page or, alternatively, you could just click on the link right here » Warrnambool City Band test page
-{It looks alright so far, except what the hell are the links?}-
Ummm... I don't know what pages we're going to have apart from the main one, so I just typed something in... It took me a while to line everything up in Paint, and I'd like to thank the webpage that I stole the pictures off (It was so long ago, I can't remember where they came from). Everyone is welcome to comment on it. Just remember that the page is for a band, so it should be musically themed (although it doesn't have to). Comments can be left in the Guestbook.
-{Hoping for many comments?}-
Not really. I'd just like Fiona , Karen and maybe Kim to see it, and then comment next Wednesday at band.
-{Now that that's over, let's talk about something else}-
Agreed.

I'll be getting a few more reviews up soon hopefully (most notably Donkey Konga and maybe Pikmin 2).
-{Why are you saying this? Shouldn't you just get on with writing them, or going and playing them whilst pretending to research them?}-
I'm trying to explain why, but you're interrupting me. Nigel mentioned in the guestbook that I should review a game (sorry, can't remember which one), but it was a PS2 one. Since I don't own/have easy access to a PS2 or Xbox about the closest I can get is multi-format games (Viewtiful Joe, for example [It's coming out/is out now {cross out the wrong one} on the PS2]). To try and increase my number/relevance of the reviews I thought that maybe people could send in reviews of their own to Tootie_Kicks with the subject line "Review of [Insert Name Here]".
-{So you thought that you'd get other people to do the work and you'd get all the credit?}-
A bit, but not really. You can do a review for any game, not limited to PS2 or Xbox. You could do an old SNES or Mega Drive game if you wanted. I split mine into three areas: Story, Review, and Verdict (out of 5). 'Story' is about the games story (if there is one), 'review' is about special features of the game or just anything which doesn't fit into 'story', and 'verdict' is a score out of 5 (socks) and why it got that score. Half socks are given, which makes it similar to a 1 - 10 scale. If you send one in, try to keep it less than 1000 words, or it may get edited for length (mine have been around the 500 - 600 mark). It would be good if you could send a couple or pictures/screenshots as well, but you don't have to (I'll look up Google). If I put it up, I'll put your name next to it on the review list page and on the actual review, I won't claim that it's mine.
-{So let me get this straight:

Is that it?}-
That sums it up very nicely. Thanks Tootie!
-{You're welcome.}-
Oh, I almost forgot! Scores out of 5 (with half marks) are preferred. If they're not out of 5 I'll use my magic powers to determine what scale you're using and give it a comparable score out of 5.
-{Seems reasonable to me, considering that you use those socks as the scale.}-
Now that that's off my chest, I'll think that' about it! It's taken a while to do this, so I think I'll send out the e-mails and do something else!
-{But don't you have other stuff to write about?} *nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink*-
Yeah, but that can wait until another time!

"Is that a cigarette you're smoking?" "No, it's a chicken."

{Quick update. Paul did another Review: F-Zero GX during his lunch break. He's getting me to do this because, he reakons 'Rah, rah, rah. I've got four assignments to do. Rah, rah, rah.' Personally, I think assignments are over-rated. Anyway, that's all I've got to say, so: bye!}

Ok! I'm done re-cafoobaling the energy motron! Or whatever!
