Robert A. Divine, et al., America Past and Present, Vol. 1, 5th edition (Addison Wesley Educational Publishers, 1999).

The publisher's web site contains summaries, practice multiple choice, true/false and short essay questions for each chapter.  Many of the questions I will ask on the four tests and the final will come from these practice quizzes, so you are strongly encouraged to try each quiz after you have read the chapter.   Please do not e-mail me your quiz results.

Note:  The publisher's site uses "frames," which make it extremely difficult to view the practice questions.  If you are using Netscape (recommended), put your mouse's cursor over the question area, & click the right mouse button.  Select "Open Frame in New Window."  In Internet Explorer, go to "Text Size" under "View" and select "smallest font."  This will make the letters smaller, so you can see more of each question.  Next, hit the F11 key to view the web page more fully.  See me if you are having trouble with this.

Select a chapter and then click "Go" to go to the publisher's page for that chapter.

You should also refer to my Lecture Notes and the Model Essays when preparing for an examination.   If you are missing a document handed out in class, go to the Assignments Page.  There you will be able to download any document from the course, including study guides.  The Sample Papers Page contains actual student reports and my comments, which will give you a good idea of my evaluation criteria.  Click the icons on the left to go to these resources.
