Brooke's London Trip

Back around Thanksgiving 2000, my parents and I took our first trip to London! It was loads of fun, and we took lots of pictures. Here are the best of them:

My dad and I on the train on the way to the city after our arrival at Gatwick airport. I was so hyper!!!

While walking around the Westminster area, we accidentally found a statue of one of our ancestors on my mom's side: John Fox Burgoyne!

A closeup.

Me at Stonehenge between two types of stones that were used to create the structure. Supposedly one is supposed to feel warm and the other cold, but I couldn't tell any difference because it was so freezing that day!

I'm seriously not kidding - it was SOOO cold, and since we were on the (Salisbury) plains, the wind was just whipping over us!

My mom and I were in a wacky mood the whole time, and laughing at about just everything. I told her to smile for the camera, meanwhile she was laughing so hard about the coldness that she couldn't even open her eyes, and as a result we got this photographic gem - one of my favorite pictures from the whole trip!

My parents at Paddington Station. We didn't even mean to go, but we were forced to take a detour one day when there was an accident with a train that we had almost boarded (we were a few seconds late - thank goodness)!

The Royal toilet in the Tower of London. I'm seriously not kidding about this. This is the actual toilet that Kings and Queens of yore used. I like to call it the "Royal Flush." Ha HA!

The armor of King Henry the Eighth and his horse.

There was so much to do at the Tower of London that my dad and I just collapsed!

My mom and I outside the Tower of London, with the Tower Bridge in the background.

My mom and I visited Kensington Palace on the last day. Here I am pretending to be snooty.

The tiny, trashy hotel we stayed in served Continental breakfast every morning, with the option to upgrade to the "master breakfast," which is, as you can see, a collection of slimy meats, mushrooms, an egg, and a tomato. So of course we thought it was incredibly funny that the hotel had these hideous posters up in the hallways, advertising it. One day when the elevator was being weird and going to the wrong floors, forcing me to wait quite a while, I took the opportunity to capture it on film!

Me being weird in front of Buckingham Palace.
