May 7, 2005: The Christy's take Manhattan...my mother and stepfather took AMTRAK down to NYC for a few hours and we were able to take a taxicab tour before heading out to a Dim Sum lunch at The Golden Unicorn in Chinatown. For dim sum, Hong Kong style, ladies circle the huge ballroom of giant circular tables (which seat up to 10 each) offering whatever they have on their carts. There is normally 3 or 4 of each offering on a little saucer. It makes for a sit-at-your table Chinese buffet! Above she poses with Jackie, Owen and I, with her strawberry cheesecake at Zaro's, and even shows off a shrimp ready to eat WITH eyes still attched. |
SUM-DIM SPECIAL! |
I visited my 47th and 48th states (Montana and Idaho) and saw Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse monument (50 years in the making, and counting!) over the summer while completing seven, 8-day CARAVAN TOURS. Other tour highlights are the Little Big Horn Battlefield, the old gold mining town of Deadwood, South Dakota, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. |
South Dakota's #1 tourist attraction, Mt. Rushmore. |
